We had an earthquake last night. It lasted around 10 to 15 seconds. I must admit I was still asleep half way through it and thought that I was having a weird rocking dream. Anyway, once I woke up a bit and sussed out that it was in fact an earthquake and not our boiler exploding, we waited for the cries from the baby monitor. Not a peep. Emma went into their room and they were fast asleep in their cots. This leaves me with one annoying question.Why can my girls sleep through a 5.0 earthquake but if I make a loud creak as I come up the stairs, they scream the house down as if it the end of the world?

This movie from the first seconds seemed to be a hospital drama ala “ER”. It began with a message: “Every year 3,000,000 anesthesias are performed. One in 700 people ends up awake during the surgery - a condition known as “anesthetic awareness” when patient is paralyzed but is still awake”. So it appeared that at least part of the movie will be about some poor person being opened up on the surgen’s table, feel the pain, but not being able to do anything about it. But to everyone’s surprise it actually turned out to be a thriller.
The plot: immediately after the opening scene where doctors are not able to revive the patient after an unsuccessful heart surgery we go back in time a few days. Oh, forget it. The best description of the plot is the tag line: “when they decided to kill her husband they didn’t know he’d be awake”.

Awake is a focused thriller with an original enough premise and a sufficiently deep subject matter to lift it above its genre peers. The Awake movie website is sorely lacking in any information besides a very very VERY! brief synopses of the movie, a few movie photos, and a trailer. What it does have alot of information on is the actor's biographies (Hayden Christensen, Jessica Alba, and Terrence Howard star in it). Basically, don't bother visiting the movie website, because you will NOT find movie wallpaper, AIM Icons or anything else fun on the website! (I almost gave it 0 of 5 stars...but hey, the movie makers DID actually put a website up, right? Awake is a psychological thriller about a patient whose anesthesia leaves him awake but paralyzed during surgery, a phenomenon known as "anesthetic awareness"....looks like it could be a really good movie! But you'd never know it from the website.
