Ok, this is a pretty commercial topic. I've been checking on airfares on a trip we picked up tickets for back in the spring, we picked up ours just in time. I kept an eye on it and the price increases were downright surprising over the course of the spring and summer... nearly doubled... just recently they took a nosedive and are approaching what we originally purchased them for. Tonight I chec

Unless you are planning a short domestic trip, the cost of airfare is usually a deciding factor in an overseas trip. Most people with moderate incomes simply can't afford to fly regularly, as much as they would like to. There are, however, some people out there who are flying all the time on regular incomes. The secret to achieving this is a willingness to be flexible and shop around with airfares, as well as employing some tried and true discount travel techniques. The key to getting a cheap flight is to shop around, and the internet makes this easy for almost anyone to do. There are a plethora of websites that will conduct searches around the world for cheap airfares. Although the internet is a valuable tool in discovering cheap airfares, it's important that you don't rely on it entirely

Australia has always been a popular destination for tourists from all over the globe. But in recent years, the tourism industry has risen tremendously. A lot of the credit for this goes to the Summer Olympics that were held in Sydney in 2000. Since then, tourism revenues in Australia reach an impressive $10 billion each year. So what makes Australia such a popular tourist destination? Most of the tourists head to Australia to experience the world-famous Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, see the wildlife in the Kakadu National Park, and take a peek at the architectural splendor of the Sydney Opera House. Outdoor enthusiasts also enjoy the surfing at the famous beaches of Brisbane, Sydney and Cairns. Many people wrongly assume that a visit to Australia is only meant for the more affluent tra
Garuda Indonesia says it is offering some of the cheapest airfares to Bali and Jakarta that Australians have ever seen. Return airfares start from $599 departing from Sydney, or $695 from Melbourne. Customers from Adelaide and Brisbane must add appropriate domestic fares. These airfares are on offer for travel up to 06 June (excluding certain dates) if booked and fully paid before 27 February.
If you're planning a trip to Europe this year, you're probably wondering when you should book. Every month, we receive reader questions asking how far in advance is too far, if last-minute fares are likely to be available, and which destinations are cheapest.Book as far in advance as possible if you'll be traveling in summer, advises Erin Krause, a spokeswoman for Expedia. "Prices ... continually increase as the summer months approach," Krause says. If you're traveling in late fall, early spring, or winter, however, the booking window can be shorter as there isn't quite as much competition for fares.
Travelocity and Expedia don't always give you the cheapest fares. But now, four new sites will search a variety of airline and travel-booking sites to find you the best deal.
We found that all four of the search engines we tested cover roughly the same travel websites, but the deals they found varied by as much as $100. On fare prices, Yahoo FareChase was the clear winner, delivering the lowest prices on five out of eight test routes. FareCast comes in a close second for usability, although it delivered the lowest fare in only one test case. Here's how the sites stack up.
Yahoo FareChase, FareCast, SideStep, and Kayak all looked at roughly the same travel websites, but in a Wired Magazine test, Yahoo FareChase tended to come up with the lowest fares. And it was easy to use!
SYDNEY (Thomson Financial) - Low-cost Australian airline Jetstar said Wednesday it will offer flights for 5 Australian cents on some domestic routes as Singapore's Tiger Airways prepares to enter the Australian market.Jetstar will offer 5,000 tickets for on seven domestic routes through its website for five hours from 7.00 pm (0800 GMT) Wednesday, spokesman Simon Westaway said.
The best source for the lowest airfares just might be in your own backyard. William J. McGee reports on the risks and rewards of using the travel agents that bargain hunters swear by.

If you’ve been vacationing in Hawaii before, you already know that fall is a bargain time to visit the islands. While round-trip summer airfares from LAX under $500 were nearly impossible to come by, you can fly to the islands during late August, September and October for at least a hundred dollars less.
Believe it or not, the price one passenger paid for an airline ticket could be cheaper or more expensive than the one bought by another. There are many reasons that could explain this so here are some tips on how to get great deals on vacations.
1. The first thing to do will be to call the airline company. Some promos are advertised in the newspaper or in the website while others are done

The mantra of today’s air traveler seems to be “just get me there.” No frills, extra pillows, peanuts, or other perks must get in the way of the cheapest airfare possible. The industry is at each other’s throats weekly, each airline trying to undercut the other.
And the pricing war has been hastened by the arrival of internet airfare comparision tools, Firefox add-ons, RSS feeds, and other ways of tracking the rise and fall of best airfares.
But there’s one segment of the airline industry that has been overlooked by the bigger portals like Kayak and Expedia – a bevy of discount airlines have so far eluded much of the mainstream.
These airlines, over 100 throughout the world, are usually small, no frills, and ultimately inexpensive.
This was the unknown undercurrent that John Hostetler discovered when traveling through Europe in 2004, and decided to start the airline comparison website AirNinja.com.

Here's a look at some of the considerations:Departure times: Most people don't like to fly in the very early morning or on "red eye" overnight flights, but sometimes airlines need to schedule these times to get their planes to a different destination. If you are willing to fly at odd hours, you may be able to save some money on your ticket.Days: If you don't have to arrive or return on specific days, then you can usually get a better rate flying on a day that is less crowded (usually Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays). Many of the top travel sites allow you to factor in a window of a few days into the travel dates you search. If you do find a better deal on one day over another, be sure to take all factors into account. If you save $50 by flying in on a Wednesday instead of a Thursday, but

OK, I generally don't post this kind of stuff, but this price Go Airlines just announced is almost plain silly. 9 bucks! I'm almost tempted to buy a couple of tickets just to do it. I figured I might post it just in case anyone might benefit, the sale only lasts a couple more days. This is a Redspotted Sandperch (Parapercis schauinslandi). If an airline drops prices after you buy, you may be able to get some money back.
Have you ever bought an airline ticket only to see the price fall and your anger rise? Now there is something you can do about it.
Few customers realize it, but many airlines will give refunds if they cut the price after you have bought a ticket. Alaska, JetBlue, Southwest, United and US Airways all offer vouchers for the full price difference — if the price drops $200, you can get a $200 coupon towards a future trip. Others offer vouchers, or cash, after deducting change fees (which can run up to $100). In industry jargon, it is called a “rollover,” and in most cases it only works if you bought the ticket directly from the airline. (It generally won’t work if you bought them via a Web site such as Expedia.com or Orbitz.com, unless the price drops in the first 24 hours.)
