      Anglican Church to debate homosexuality
Well we are two weeks into the Lambeth conference and the bishops in attendance finally have the opportunity to debate the burning issue of the day, namely the Church’s stance on homosexuality. The Lambeth conference, held once every 10 years, gathers the bishops of the Anglican Communion around the world. However, notable in his absence [...]

      Anglican cheekiness!
I read this and thought "That's a bit cheeky" but then Anglicans in high places are prone to a diet of cheekiness and churlishness these days. Some have more of one that the other and vice versa. This is the bit I thought a bit cheeky.Former Archbishop of the Middle East Clive Handford has said that in the long term some sort of statement of shared beliefs and an agreement to abide by them would b

US Catholic Church Becomes a Testing Ground As The Anglican Communion Begins To Split
Years ago, the Catholic Church has developed the “Anglican Use” liturgy, which resembles a mix between the Tridentine Mass and the Old English language. It was designed to welcome disenchanted Anglican Protestants back into the Catholic Communion, but its use has been strictly limited to parishes in the United States in communities where the [...]

The Dual Agenda of the Catholic Church In The Anglican Crisis

      Anglican woes
The Anglican Communion is probably at an impasse that has taken it to the wall of schism. Whether we want to break it down, like the walls of Jericho, I do not know. All I do know is that via media is seemingly no longer possible without some kind of realignment. The Episcopal Church in the USA thinks that going over the boundaries and then claiming new territury of thinking is OK. They think the c

      theology | The Anglican Communion?
While I have some appreciation that AMiA has concerns about what it means to faithfully witness to Jesus, I generally think unity, that for which Jesus prayed, is a larger theological issue than differing views on human sexuality. Even if one desired to voice dissent, something for which I always want to maintain space, I question the decision of the hundreds of bishops that are boycotting the La

"A Strange Silence Exists On The Future Of Universal Medical Care, [In The Bahamas] Despite Statutory Provision" - Remarks Anglican Archbishop - His Grace Drexel Gomez
Gomez Bemoans Silence On Health Insurance: By Tameka Lundy - Nassau, Bahamas: Since coming to office the governing Free National Movement has decided to take a distinctly different path than its predecessors when it comes to facilitating insurance coverage for Bahamians with costly, chronic diseases. While the Progressive Liberal Party administration had aggressively pursued a path towards the creation of National Health Insurance, the present government has said it’s moving towards the implementation of a fund to foot the bill for expensive medicines required as a result of catastrophic ailments. The lack of substantive details has left some people, including Anglican Archbishop His Grace Drexel Gomez perturbed. He used a portion of his Synod address on Monday evening to draw attention once again to the dilemma that exists in The Bahamas. Earlier in the year, the House of Assembly and the Senate passed the National Health Insurance Act, what many called the enabling legislation

Sexual Immorality And Worldliness Plague The Bahamas - Says Anglican Archbishop Drexel Gomez
Gomez: Sexual immorality and worldliness plague the nation - By STAFF WRITER, Nassau Guardian: Nassau, Bahamas: Anglicans were beseeched to hear the call of Jesus like St. Matthew and follow Him, by Archbishop Drexel Gomez at St. Matthew's Church, as the historic parish celebrated its Feast of Title on Sunday. The televised service was celebrated by the Archbishop Drexel Gomez, Primate of the West Indies and Bishop of The Bahamas, as he congratulated the members of St. Matthew's for their continued service in the building up of God's Kingdom on earth. The Archbishop however noted that sexual immorality and worldliness in The Bahamas are things that bring great concern to him. "We have allowed our society to accept worldly values and worldly standards, and when we are going with the crowd we are going into the wrong direction," he said. "We are having a state of affairs in which it is alright to be immoral, and if we don't change, it would get worse, before it gets any better.

A New Idea For Anglican Homosexuals.
The Archbishop of Canterbury has come up with a new solution for homosexuals to help stem the divisive split going on within the Church of England. His solution: STOP BEING GAY! Well now that that's settled, we can all go to church together. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams has decided to pull a 180 on his flock in what former supporters are calling an '"astonishing" U-turn over the homosexual issue.' You see, Williams used to a be a supporter of the consecration of Gay Bishops and was widely hailed when he was appointed to be the new Archbishop, but suddenly he has reversed his position. I do believe conversion means conversion of habits, behaviours, ideas, emotions," he told a Dutch journalist. "Ethics is not a matter of a set of abstract rules, it is a matter of living the mind of Christ. That applies to sexual ethics." So in other words, STOP BEING GAY. When asked to explain his previous position in light of his current one, the Archbishop said "That was when I

Anglican Primates issue communique to Episcopal Church
So, the Primates (that means "Archbishops who lead national churches" - keep the ape jokes to yourselves, you unwashed non-Anglican philistines) of the Anglican Communion have issued a communique which, among other things, lays out the way forward if the US Episcopal Church is to maintain its standing as a full member of the Communion. You can read all about it here.As you may know, I'm a fairly outspoken supporter of gay rights, including within the church. I think the Biblical case for the sinfulness of homosexuality is insufficient to justify treating gay Christians, including those in committed gay sexual relationships, any different than straight Christians, including blessing unions and opening up leadership positions. I don't think it's a sin, but even if it is - you show me a straight Christian who's free of unrepented sin, and I'll show you a big, fat liar. And although the weight of Christian tradition on this topic troubles me, I am convinced that that tradition is
