      Atwood’s Canadian Matryoshka
The best thing I remember about Margaret Atwood’s Booker Prize-winning novel The Blind Assassin, a  book I recently read, is how its structure is likened to that of a set of Russian Matryoshkas in which dolls of decreasing sizes are hidden one inside the other. The entire novel is supposed to be the memoir of Iris Chase, eighty [...]

Writers and the Credit Crunch - Margaret Atwood and Tim Parks
I very rarely have the cause or inclination to browse to the Financial Times, but was glad to have done so today. The immediate reasoning was to check for news on the troubled bank of which I am, unfortunately, an account holder. No particular joy there, but instead I stumbled upon an extract from Margaret [...] Share and Enjoy:

      Atwood Oceanics (ATW) Goes Parabolic
I'm not entirely opposed to taking a quick profit in ATW. Here's where ATW was trading last Friday, when I posted the breakout from the bullish triangle:$116.16Here's where it's trading today:$124.63At the very least, take half your profits off the table in ATW and raise the stop on the remaining position to break-even.And, remember, you can try being a hero by picking the bottom in

Atwood Oceanics (ATW) Is Ready to Run
Is it a market of stocks? Or, is it a stock market? The answers to these questions depends on your approach. If you're a futures, index, or ETF trader, then it's definitely a stock market. But if you're a stock picker, clearly it's a market of stocks. The great thing about being a stock picker is that you can always find a bull and bear market somewhere. With yesterday's 350 point drop in the Dow,

      Brian Atwood Skyline Platform Slingbacks
Since the entire internet and all the news channels are all over the VA Tech story, I thought I’d give readers break from seeing the same thing everywhere, and try to change the subject to something slightly less depressing, although much less serious/important. Yup, I’ve decided to talk about shoes. They make everyone feel better. While we’re on the subject, I’m pretty positive that these Brian Atwood Skyline Platform Slingbacks are one of THE most gorgeous pairs ever. Check out the clear lucite heel and the gorgeous shiny patent leather! So hot / cute / adorable. Plus they’re black so they go with everything except navy blue! Yes, I’ve decided that I need to have those heels. There is only one problem… Can someone give loan me $890 dollars pleeease?

      Coding Horror - Jeff Atwood
Coding Horror logo © Steve McConnellEverything else on the right © Jeff Atwood ;)I highly recommend Jeff Atwood's Coding Horror for coders or anyone interested in computing technology, especially user interface design. (Although coders will benefit more from Coding Horror than non-coders IMHO) There's tons of interesting and thought-provoking stuff on why certain things are the way they are in the fields in programming and computer-related technology. I like Jeff's writing style - it's great when someone can write and explain technical stuff clearly with resorting to excessive technical babble. Besides, most of the posts are more about making the most out of technology instead of simply extolling the virtues of a certain tech over another which makes Coding Horror stand out from the other technical blogs out there.Four useful recent posts about computing technology in general in the Coding Horror. My Work PC, or, Taking Your Own AdviceGetting the Most Out of PNGReducing Yo
