The other day I decided to put together a huge bowl of mashed sweet potatoes. I like mashed sweet potatoes a lot. It’s a perfect side dish for chicken or steak or anything. Mashed sweet potatoes are great with sprinkles of cinnamon or nutmeg. I noticed at many restaurants they make it too sweet. They add way too much brown sugar and sometimes even add an extra layer of melted brown sugar on top.

I was somewhat doubtful that such a simple recipe would taste very good...but they really do. :)You do need to keep an eye on these while they're cooking though - the bottoms burn easily if you leave them in to

Have you ever seen a ling cod? They are almost primeval looking - huge, gaping mouths with sharp teeth. As with any fish, the most important factor for how good it tastes is its freshness. I picked up this fillet at Whole Foods (they usually have a good selection of fresh fish) where they told me that the ling cod had just come in that morning. With the lemon-garlic butter sauce it was divine.

What makes them Florentine or [...]
