It has been emphasized that the uplands are all underlain by hard crystalline rocks. The lowlands, on the other hand, are found on the weaker sandstones, shales and limestones; sedimentaries in large part belonging to the Carboniferous system. The Chaleur Bay region was a basin of deposition as far back as Devonian and Carboniferous times. The present lowland, developed on these rocks, consists of

India’s largest company by market value, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), may produce 50% more natural gas from the country’s biggest field than the company estimated, easing shortages that idled utilities in the world’s second fastest growing economy. The Krishna-Godavari (KG) region in the Bay of Bengal may yield as much as 120 million cubic metres a day (mcmd) after eight new discoveries, V.K. Sibal, director general of hydrocarbons, had said in an 8 April interview. The previous target for the field, scheduled to start production in the next 12 months, was 80mcmd.RIL is investing $5.2 billion (Rs20,800 crore) to develop the KG region, which will more than double the country’s output and may alleviate shortages that have shut down one-third of the nation’s gas-fired power pla
Simran's name is used in different way by a washbasin manufacturing company. The company has named a few models of the washbasins with the names of heroines. There are the names of Simran, Mahima, Tabu etc for wash basins to attract the customers. The retail vendors say that the company named so, to describe the sensuous shape of their wash basins in an aesthetic way to its customers. The added statement is that the model-Simran is being sold out well because of its interesting shape, say vendors. If this is going on with the knowledge of actress Simran is not known. Well, the company didn't use Simran's photograph any where. It has simply named a model- Simran. Can Simran hold any right to question on this?!Courtesy:greatandhra

The Maliau Basin is almost unvisited and completely uninhabited by man. It is located in south-central Sabah, about 40km north of the Indonesian borderat between 116° 40' - 117° 2' and 4° 40' 4° 50' N.While all of this region is rugged, remote and forested, the Maliau Basin is distinguished by its steep slope up to 1,500m in height, making it insurmountable on foot from most directions. The size of the enclosed Basin is 390 sq. km with a maximum diameter of 25km. The highest point is Mt. Lotung, on the north rim which is about 1,900m elevation. It is
Catherine and I walked through the Upper Geyser Basin by walking along the boardwalks and paved trails in this area. The hike is between two and four miles long depending on which trails you follow. The Upper Geyser Basin contains twenty percent of the world's geysers, the largest concentration on earth. The one square mile basin has several groups of hot springs and over 150 geysers, including Old Faithful. In the background of this photo you can see the Old Faithful Inn. Catherine and I stayed here while we visited the Old Faithful area of Yellowstone National Park. Along the rim of the caldera in Yellowstone is the Upper Geyser Basin, which has the highest concentration of geothermal features in the park. This area includes the Old Faithful Geyser, as well as four other predictable large geysers. One of these large geysers in the area is Castle Geyser which is about 1400 feet northwest of Old Faithful. Castle Geyser has an interval of approximately 13 hours between major eruptions,

From Oregon Wild:According to an old fable, heaven and hell are nearly the same. Both have spirits gathered before a never-ending banquet, the most delicious food imaginable. Both feast tables are set with utensils slightly too long for banqueters to feed themselves. The difference: The souls in heaven discover their utensils are just long enough to feed their neighbors, and the spirits feast in eternal, merry community. Meanwhile the souls in hell struggle in vain to feed only themselves, never realizing heaven is just across the table. That seems to be an ongoing theme of the more successful conservation projects in the U.S. Yet even the successful are reported into a simplified oblivion.

By OLIVER TEVESMANILA, Philippines - Scientists exploring a deep ocean basin in search of species isolated for millions of years found marine life believed to be previously undiscovered, including a tentacled orange worm and an unusual black jellyfish.Project leader Dr. Larry Madin said Tuesday that U.S. and Philippine scientists collected about 100 different specimens in a search in the Celebes Sea south of the Philippines.Madin, of the Massachusetts-based Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, said the sea is at the heart of the "coral triangle" bordered by the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia a region recognized by scientists as having a high degree of biological diversity. The deepest part of the Celebes Sea is 16,500 feet. The team was able to explore to a depth of about 9,100 feet using a remotely operated camera."This is probably the center where many of the species evolved and spread to other parts of the ocean, so it's going back to the source in many ways," Madin told a g
Saturday October 13th 2007 was our first day of skiing for the 2007-2008 ski season. Arapahoe Basin opened a few days prior. We arrived around 7:15am beating the traffic. I was not so concerned about the highway traffic as much as the ski traffic.Now...please understand...this is day 1 for us skiing on one narrow short run with a lot of people having the same idea. From past experience, I knew going into this the lift line would be about 45 minutes long and I mentally prepared to take 1 run definitely, and maybe if I got lucky with a lot of patience, I'd achieve a second run. Well, much to our surprise, we got in 5 runs. That's correct, I too was totally shocked - we skied 5 runs at Arapahoe Basin - WOOHOO!! The conditions were great. See...I grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania. When you learn to ski there, you ski on many days of ice. The season is much shorter than it is in Colorado. Yesterday would have been considered a very good day of snow in Pennsylvania. As a matter of fact
