Quite difficult to understand, after Burma and its regime of military has received pledges of outside help in the human catastrophe following cyclone Nargis, that it still bars aid workers form entering the country. As there was a holiday yesterday, Burma's embassy was closed and not offering visas for aid workers -- quite an unimaginable bureaucratic failure in light of the possibility, that much more than 30,000 people might have been killed and most of the current rice crop devastated. My personal feeling would be NOT to give money to aid organizations; initially harsh for the population affected, but it is very doubtful that any help will reach them and secondly, it further solidifies the hold of the junta on Burma -- which must be broken or suffering on a much larger scale will follow.

The researchers at the University of Colorado discovered that they were able to generate the same type of forged TCP reset packets used by Comcast to block ("delay," according to the cable provider) BitTorrent uploads. During peak traffic periods, the researchers saw TCP reset packets popping up all over the place, which they said were "aimed at any new TCP connection regardless of the application-level protocol." With Comcast having recently announced its intention to adjust its traffic management practices, alarm bells went off. Instead of giving up the practice of using TCP reset packets to manage BitTorrent traffic, it appeared that Comcast was doing the opposite: extending it to cover all sorts of traffic. In an official statement, Comcast said it had yet to make the announced changes

First and most importantly, a 25% holding would have no impact on the day to day running of the Club, on buying and selling players or any contractual or sponsorship agreements. These decisions, which are known Ordinary Resolutions, include the appointment of directors; the payment of dividends, approval of the accounts etc. There are some unusual decisions which require the approval of 75% of sharehol

Question I have an attic space made of 2X8's and want to put down a sub floor (3/4 OSB). There is no blocking in the floor and I would like to add some before I do the decking. How many blocking points should be done normally in a 12' span?AnswerHi Wayne - thanks for your question.I assume you're talking about bridging? This is a code issue, so the requirements may differ depending on your location.Generally, bridging isn't required for anything smaller than 2 x 12's. When it is, it's usually at 8' spacing. If you are concerned about lateral bracing in the attic floor it certainly doesn't hurt to add bridging. One row in a 12' span should do it!Hope this helps!Richard Taylor, AIAResidential ArchitectLuxury Home House Plans
I was just chatting on instant messenger with a good friend of mine who was shocked to discover that I ran ads on my blog.
She’d been running an ad blocker in Firefox and (like AdBlock Plus) and had forgot all about it (she’s since turned it off).
I obviously gave her a slagging off for using an ad blocker as we’d only recently been talking about various advertising options on her site.
This got me thinking about how many people actually use Ad blockers, and how many of those users are hypocritical enough to knowingly use then while running advertising on their own blogs?
I’m sure there are many who do this, but what is the motivation?
I know that removing the ads from other sites can provide a smoother and less intrusive browsing experience, but when these ads are many bloggers only source of revenue from the blogs what makes you think that you have the right to come and read their content without their advertising.

We are all aware that the lack of beds for patients who need to be admitted in hospitals today have to wait in line to be accommodated. While the issue is supposedly about the lack of beds for patients who go to the hospitals, the thing is there may be another side of the problem that exists.
For patients who are lined-up to be admitted this is a given. But for the people who are already lying on the beds, some doctors and physicians seem to have a problem on finding out when they can be discharged to make room for patients who have diagnosed problems.
This is termed as bed blocking for patients who have no problems. Overstaying seems to be like renting out the bed space which could be of use to other more needy patients.
Most hospitals run at 85pc capacity as keeping large numbers of beds empty makes no sense.
But if there are no community placements available, or a residential home is unwilling to take a patient on, the system becomes choked with patients. Add to that a rush of i
Interesting plea over at Blog Maverick today that ISP’s should be blocking P2P traffic, and for Comcast to hang in there and take a stand that P2P has no room on a consumer network. Most of the argument centers on the needs of the many users against the needs of the one heavy P2P user. While it makes sense at some level, it does not make sense at other levels. No disrespect to Blog Maverick, but there has to be a way to do things on bandwidth that you pay for, and while Comcast has been in trouble in the past for what they do to P2P traffic, the problem is when they go after other protocols and systems like Lotus Notes.
Does anyone really think its free ? That all the bandwidth consumed with content being distributed by P2P isn’t being paid for by someone ? That bandwidth is being paid for by consumers. Consumers who pay for personal, not commercial applications. When consumers provide their bandwidth to assist commercial applications, they are subsidizing those commercial ap

This is a technique that I've used in my latest layout titled "I'm 1" in my baby gallery. It's a technique where it will reflects a raised blocking design. Simply follow the steps below. 1. First cut out a few pieces of crafting foam. In my layout, I've cut out three pieces of green crafting foam and two pieces of blue crafting foam. Then attach all the green foams together. Do the same for the blue foams. Later, attach the foams to your background card stock. In my layout, I've cut out the areas where the foams lapsed. 2. Cut out your desired pattern papers pieces to cover the foams.3. Use a bone folder or anything that you can find to enhance the 3D blocks look. 4. Glue the papers down. Then I've inked on the lifted blocks to add some details and dimensions to it.For the finished look of my layout, you can refer to my baby gallery.
It's been fun watching this story unfold. As a former Comcast customer, I was frustrated by Comcast's blocking of specific kinds of traffic. Bittorrent was pretty much useless, and the network speed was barely reliable enough for online gaming. A few months back I switched to Verizon's Fios service and have been extremely happy with the quality. To put it simply, everything works.
Now that net neutrality groups and the telcos are beating the investigation drum, Comcast's future is looking a little bleak.
