As I'm currently working on a reaction to the profoundly stupid "Stop the Clash of Civilizations" video currently exciting the naive on Youtube as well as spending time with a new friend who happens to be an officer in the Egyptian Army (and a devout Muslim), I found this interview with Tawfik Hamid by Dennis Prager especially interesting. Hamid says the root of the "clash" is an interpretation of Koranic verses that people use to not only justify violence, but make aggressive Jihad a Muslim obligation. Hamid is currently laboring to offer an alternative perspective on those passages in the Koran that would allow peaceful coexistence not only between the Islamic countries and the West, but between Muslims themselves. I hope he's successful. Unlike some (yes, they exist), I wish no conflict between any group I'm involved with and my Muslim brothers and sisters. Listen P.S.
