Home lighting is an essential part of home décor, and needs to be considered carefully based on a variety of factors. First, home lighting is required for specific tasks, such as putting on makeup and shaving in the bathroom; or paying bills and writing letters in the office. Other lighting illuminates a space, so that the kids can play or you can move about without bumping into objects. Finally,

Frontier airlines announced it is going to build a $25 million maintenance hangar at the Colorado Springs Airport bringing around 225 jobs to Colorado Springs within the next 2 years. The Colorado Springs Airport has not seen such progress in over a decade. They have tried bringing in other low-cost carriers with no luck. Southwest Airlines was a possibility 2 years ago, but they ended up in Denver. The other fantastic news is that Frontier airlines will be providing a flight from Colorado Springs to Denver by late Spring of 2008, with the possibility of other flights being added in the future. The stolen toilet soapbox racer has been found. Phew! Everyone can get back to their lives. It was just a routine patrol until a King County sheriff's deputy lifted a tarp and found a soapbox derby racer built to look like a giant toilet. A giant, stolen toilet - measuring about 7 feet high and 7 feet long. The massive commode - white with a blue velour seat and tank cover and a red flush handle - was found Wednesday in a rural area of southeast King County.Sheriff's Sgt. John Urquhart said the toilet facsimile was built by five friends in Colorado Springs, Colo., and was brought to Seattle late last month for a race. It was stolen out of the back of a truck, which was also stolen.Colorado Springs, huh? Think they weren't worried about the toilet racer? Keep in mind this is the same place that banned playing tag on the playgrounds of their schools. And hey, that car would be perfect for the guy who lives in the toilet house!(AP)STUB HUB: The Safe Way to Buy & Sell Tickets Online
Relocate-America recently released their list of the top 25 cities to go to school for 2007. It does not surprise me that Colorado Springs made it under the top 25. There are many wonderful schools throughout all of the districts here. Their poll took into account the quality of the schools and choices in educational offerings for children. Relocate-America stated that their list was determined as follows; "Our list recognizes communities with strong support and spirit for their local schools, high parental involvement, strong academic achievement and performance, caring faculty and staff and successful extracurricular programs with opportunities for children to explore and excel in many areas of interest. We recognize a variety of school types, including public schools, private programs, Christian-based and specialized/vocational educational opportunities."Click Here if you would like more info on the schools in the area.Colorado Real Estate Resources

New construction has many benefits. Building new gives you the opportunity to customize your home by adding special features to the basic home. Lower maintenance costs and lower operating costs also add to the advantages of new construction. Is building a new home in Colorado Springs, Monument and surrounding areas for you?
When deciding on additional features, consider how they will affect the re-sale value of the home and whether these additions will over-improve your home. Money spent to improve and modernize kitchens and bathrooms is almost always a good investment. Granite and corian counter tops, side-by-side refrigerators, tile flooring and whirlpool tubs are popular upgrades. If the builder's standard flooring for the living room, dining room or foyer is linoleum, changing to hardwood or tile will increase the resale value of the home. And even if you don't enjoy sitting around a roaring fireplace, the next owner may want one. If you plan to finish the basement later, you ma
Last time I checked there were over 4,000 real estate agents in Colorado Springs, Monument and the surrounding areas covered by the Pikes Peak Association of Realtors. That is a large number compared to the population in these areas. There are a number of real estate agents that have their license but are not practicing currently. Part time real estate agents can be found as well. With all of this in mind, there are many real estate agents out there to choose from.
Who are you going to choose to assist you with what is probably your greatest investment?
Knowledge, professionalism and experience are the important factors to consider when selecting a Real Estate Agent. You should also look for someone who listens carefully to what you want in a new home and who knows the market well enough to find the right house for you within a reasonable period of time. Be comfortable with the person you choose. If you feel like the real estate agent is sensitive to your needs and desires, you will fe
What does the housing inventory look like? As of September, 2006 there are a total of 5,929 Single Family Homes / Patio Homes on the market, which is a 33.7 % increase in inventory from the same time last year. There is a 30.5 % increase in available Condos / Townhomes with an inventory of 919.What do home sales look like? 888 Family Homes / Patio Homes have been sold in the month of September, which is 27.9 % less from the same time last year (1,232). Condos / Townhomes happen to have an equal number of sales from the same time last year coming in at 156 units sold for both years (0% change). What does all this mean? It could mean a number of things of course, but here are some ideas to think about. This is not just some odd phenomena happening only in Colorado Springs. Inventory has flooded the market, while the number of homes being sold has decreased. After going to national real estate conferences and talking to many other real estate agents lately, I have found that this change in
Last summer your neighbors put their house on the market and had so many buyers that they were on the winning side of a bidding war. Now you are trying to sell your home, and there's just no action.
The real estate marketplace is very unpredictable. Many factors come into play, the most important being interest rates and prevailing sales prices. In a strong seller's market, prices tend to escalate until they reach a certain point where buyers begin to just say no and listing inventories increase. When this happens, sellers who price their homes at the higher level of previous sales prices must re-think their pricing strategies. If they don't, their homes may not sell. Whether you are buying or selling a home, it is important to remember that the shift from a seller's to a buyer's market can occur very quickly. You can count on your agent for sound advice on what phase the market is in right now.Colorado Real Estate Resources

Colorado Springs is made up of many different areas as you will find in your search. The Northeast, East, Central, and Southeast areas make up the core of Colorado Springs. The Central area consists of many unique homes built at the turn of the century. Homes can also be found in the Central area that were built clear up to the 1960's. The majority of homes in the Northeast, East, and Southeast were built from the 60's to the 90's. The average price per SF in these areas is between $95-$115, where the Southeast is one of the least expensive areas to buy in.Powers, Briargate, Northwest, West, Old Colorado City, Manitou Springs and Southwest are the areas just outside the core. These areas are quite different from one another. Powers is a large area that consists of homes built from the mid 60's in the south to homes that are currently being built as you move up north. Briargate is complete with homes built in the 70's where new construction is still available. The average pric

The sub prime mess coupled with raising interest rates and inflated prices have certainly taken some of the shine off of real estate as an investment class, at least for the inexperienced investor.
