As will come as no surprise to anyone outside of the conservative blogosphere's nether regions, Obama gained enough votes to win the electoral college today when Florida certified its electoral votes and sent them on to Congress.

Of the many reasons that conservatives hate Barack Obama and his incoming posse, perhaps the dumbest is that, well, they aren’t dumb enough. As the Washington Post’s Alec MacGillis notes, conservatives are apparently outraged that Obama will populate the White House and federal agencies with too many people who not only went to [...]

Maybe no one really cares anymore, but a viral video is sweeping the Internet, and (surprise, surprise) is highlighted by Matt Drudge today, showing that Barack Obama's use of Karl Marx's phrase “redistribution of the wealth” when chatting with John McCain's BFF, Joe the Plumber, was not, as expected by many of us, just an unfortunate choice of words.Back in 2001 Obama gave a radio interview i

The new Conservative website looks quite pretty. It is far prettier than the old version, certainly, and has more and better information on it. However, it is really quite “safe” in the end, and nothing is really very “eye grabbing” in aesthetic terms.

The stunning thing is not McCain's non-conservative position; rather, it is that some conservatives were actually "alarmed" by his exit, stage left.

The headline may seem like a trick question -- even a dangerous one -- to ask during an election year. And notice, please, that I didn't ask whether certain politicians are more honest than others. Is it OK to cheat on your taxes? A total of 57 percent of those who described themselves as “very liberal” said yes in response to the World Values Survey, compared with only 20 percent of those who are “very conservative.” When Pew Research asked whether it was “morally wrong” to cheat Uncle Sam, 86 percent of conservatives agreed, compared with only 68 percent of liberals.

Otherwise engaged with the Lib Dems over at the station end of town, I couldn't get over to see Edward Timpson's (Conservative) visit to Coppenhall this morning. He and Alan Duncan (shadow business secretary) were over at the North Street Post Office (near the Cross Keys roundabout) highlighting the need to retain these local outlets. It's a valid cause that many feel passionate about. Timpson seems to be trying to tackle some of the core issues and he has pounded the pavements. Plenty of mud-slinging and insults, but he is perhaps the more local of the candidates. I'm hoping to get a profile piece done over few days. Have you met the Conservative candidate recently? Recently I read an article by Whit Ayres: “Let’s Get Right into the Debate.” Basically, the article polarizes or politicizes environmentalism and champions green conservatism while demonizing liberal environmentalism. Personally, I believe it is dangerous to politicize environmentalism because environmentalism at its core is not to be politicized. Politicization demands benefit to politics or a political ideology or system and not towards the environment or Nature. Of course, there is political ecology but political ecology focuses on how behaviors of individuals living within a political system influence environmental issues and the landscape.I also believe that green conservatives are stealing elements of environmentalism like market-based mechanisms and making them their own.

It’s been a long winter break for me, and I needed to get back to posting every now and then. Now, let me say that I’m glad to read at the end of your recent post that you will vote for John McCain if he wins the GOP nomination. I was a little worried reading it at first, because I, for one, am getting pretty upset with hearing conservatives claiming they will not support McCain if he gets the nomination. (Bush to Conservatives: Screw You)
President Bush once again is set to screw conservatives, and most Americans who want our borders controlled, by signing the Democrat Omnibus budget bill. The massive spending bill carries language that essentially guts the existing border fence law calling for double fencing. This from WorldNewDaily:
Bill guts border fence requirement
Republican presidential hopeful Duncan Hunter is blasting a Democrat-sponsored bill that would eliminate the requirement passed by Congress to build a double-layered fence covering 854 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border.
“By eliminating the double fence requirement, the Democratic Congress is going to make it easier for drug and human smugglers to cross our Southern land border,” said Hunter. “This goes against the interests of any family that has been touched by illegal drugs or any American who has seen their job taken by an illegal alien.”

Which group is preferable, the bulk of the Republicans or those who support Ron Paul? A month ago the choice seemed obvious. Even though I disagreed with Paul’s social conservatism, Paul did seem far preferable with regards to his position on Iraq and civil liberties. Unfortunately the Ron Paul movement increasingly seems to be one of fringe groups such as white supremacists, neo-Nazis, and conspiracy theorists who have little understanding of libertarian philosophy or economic beliefs. As a result it now appears that conservatives have a better understanding of economics than many Paul supporters, at least with regards to the consequences of earmarks.
In the recent past I’ve had disagreements with Paul supporters who defended Paul’s support for earmarks to benefit his Congressional district. Many of his supporters argued that the earmarks did not contribute to increasing government spending as the funds were already appropriated. Conservative blogger Ed Morrissey pr
It would appear from reading this article that there may be more conservatives in Hollywood than we may think. Why then don’t we hear more from them? Because they are scared to death to come forward for fear of losing their credibility and their livelyhood.
“They learn very quickly, if they know what’s good for them, to donate to the Democratic Party,” said Andrew Breitbart, co-author of “Hollywood, Interrupted.” “If they were to donate to the Republican Party, they would be exposed to career-ending ridicule, period.”
Liberals, despite what they say, are the most intolerant people on the face of the earth.
