Crisp Beavers on Canadian Fruit Sealer Jars
So just before the holiday that Dumpdiggers calls Christmas started, Tim Braithwaite (stonebottles) bought a beautiful beaver jar at a local auction sale and posted this close-up photo of the crisp embossing in the Dumpdiggers discussion forum, and of course this caused me to wonder about fruit sealers and crisp beavers in general, and how they came to be so coveted? … and what about those ‘le

      Pear Crisp
This is a great dessert to prepare if you have canned alot of pears this past summer. I have 48 jars of pears sitting in the pantry waiting to be eaten and I used 3 jars for this dessert. It was very tasty and unlike most pears, this dessert did not taste grainy like pears texture can get. It was very refreshing heated up with vanilla ice cream and would make a great winter dessert to warm a

A night at Leicester's crisp bowl
It was brass monkey weather, there was a lengthy midweek trek to Leicester and there was not much hope of points. So Tuesday night's surprisingly competent display against the League One leaders was heart warming to say the least. We were actually in this game until the final whistle. Leicester were on edge, their crowd expected plenty and we almost upset the party. .There was an amusing start to

      Candy Review: Nestle's Coffee Crisp
Nestle’s Coffee Crisp is a bar that has a very dedicated fan base. When I first heard of it, it was though an online petition that was demanding it’s distribution back in the United States. I found it recently on the shelf at a convenience store I happened to be in, and I couldn’t help but wonder what all the hype was about. It is described as a coffee center surrounded by light wafers and covered in milk chocolate. Sounds harmless enough, right? Unfortunately, I wasn’t ready quite for what I was about to taste. It was greasy. Seriously, it gave me a gross feeling on my fingers on just handling the bar. I took a bite and it didn’t taste much of anything. I didn’t taste chocolate or coffee. Isn’t that supposed to be the point? I do feel obligated to say that the wafers were nice, at least. Perplexed as to why the bar lacked flavor and had such a strange texture, I turned it over to look at the ingredients list. On the Nestle website they list

      Candy Review: Nestle Crunch Crisp
(image from CandyDirect.com) I am twenty-six years old. The candies I love, however, are often significantly older than I am, even older than my parents, and, in some cases (what up, Tootsie Roll?) older than my grandparents as well. I suppose it’s easy to take the classics for granted, with so many new and delicious treats pouring onto the shelves each year, but I’m embarrassed to admit that my excitement for new and limited-edition candies had actually caused me to forget how much I loved the Nestle Crunch bar. How could I forget the greatness of the Nestle Crunch? The crisped rice and milk chocolate bar to end all crisped rice and milk chocolate bars! The A-Team to Krackel’s B-Team! The bar that Peter Venkman rewards Egon Spengler with in Ghostbusters! Oh, sweet scary Zuul, how could such a thing have happened? The Coco Crisp Theory: A 3-Step Plan for Raising a Famous Child
Coco Crisp, Patron Saint of Stupid Names Step 1: Find a breeding partner capable of producing with you a male child. Step 2: Produce such a child. Step 3A: Name the male child in a bizarre fashion. Wait approximately 20 years. Step 3B: Success! ****** You’re probably wondering how such a simple scheme can have such an infinitesimally small chance of failure. The idea stems from Social Differentiation Patterning Theory, or as it is more commonly known, the Coco Crisp Theory. To understand the theory, ask yourself this: as an adult, how frequently do you encounter other adults with completely bizarre first names? Perhaps as a child, you knew someone with an unusual name, but you no longer know people like that because, simply put, they’ve all become famous. Think about it, famous athletes – Peerless Pryce, Coco Crisp, Milton Bradley, famous actors – Skeet Ulrich, Yahoo Serious, famous nobodies – Dweezil Zappa. It was impossible for these individuals to not become famous. Mor

      Apple Crisp
On Monday we had fun picking apples at the orchard. Now we are having fun eating them! Last night half of our apples got sliced, topped and baked as they were transformed into apple crisp. We love it so much I make it in a lasagna pan to make sure it doesn’t disappear in one sitting. Apple crisp doesn’t last very long in our house. We eat it for dessert, as a snack. This morning we ate it for breakfast. In my mind apples + oatmeal = breakfast. I bet it is healthier than eating a bowl of Apple Jacks. I learned how to make apple crisp from my grandmother (dad’s mom) and it is her recipe that I continue to use today. Since I use a much bigger pan I double the recipe, so keep that in mind if you try it out. Mariners Mascot Nearly Flattens Coco Crisp
Yes, the headline reads like a narrative cartoon word balloon. But an incident involving the Mariner Moose and Red Sox fielder, Coco Crisp could have been a serious issue. The Moose was starting his routine that involved the ATV in front of the Red Sox dugout. As Crisp took the field, the Moose pulled forward and clipped the Boston outfielder on the leg. Crisp fell to the ground, but quickly regained his footing and went on his way to his position in center field. "It hit me, not flush, but it hit me," Crisp good-naturedly explained. "I didn't see it. I just heard it and I jumped back. I'm sure he didn't mean to take me out."Obviously this brings up the story of the Tennessee Titans mascot, T-Rac, and his calculated golf cart homicide attempt on Adrian McPherson, then-Quarterback of the New Orleans Saints. Youth - Rebel Quotes - Quentin Crisp
“The young always have the same problem – how to rebel and conform at the same time. They have now solved this by defying their parents and copying one another.” Quentin Crisp (1908 – 99) British writer

photo: instyle.comHere's the thing. My complete adoration of Cameron Diaz's spunky style totally crept up on me. One day I was simply regarding her as a sweet, fun comic actress, and the next I realized that I was idolizing her for her amazing style and gift for wearing the "just right" thing all the time. First it was one great outfit. Then another. Now it seems like Cam can do no wrong in the fashion department. Why Didn't my Pickles Stay Crisp?
I admit that my home canned pickles (dill) get soft and it drives me crazy. I've used recipes completely from scratch, I've used dill pickle mixes. I've used 3 different kinds of cucumbers. Nada. The odd thing was that one season I had 2 quarts stay semi-crisp but the rest got soft. Now that was confusing! I came across the advice from people 'in the know' - the makers of Bell and Kerr

      The Notorious Mr Crisp
Quentin Crisp does make great soundbite. But of course he was more than that. The word legacy is the first that springs to mind. Gorgeous old puff are another three. And according to Grand Dame himself, he was "born reluctantly on Christmas day in 1908", to his "dismay" he found himself to be "the son of a middle-class middle-brow, middling parents who lived in Sutton".Near the end of his life, he was still as dryly self deprecating by describing himself on income tax forms as a "retired waif".

      Crisp Vector Type from Photoshop
I am a vector geek. When it comes to printing, vector graphics are the best. Nothing looks better to me than crisp clean printed type. As a vector geek, one of my pet peeves is type set in Photoshop. When type is set in Photoshop, more often than not, the files that get sent to the printer are flattened (no layers) 300dpi TIFF files. This is absolutely perfect for images, but for text? The thing is, when you set a line of type in Illustrator or InDesign and it gets output to any device- office printer, inkjet, platemaker etc. vector data (text) is output at the highest resolution possible by the imaging device. This means that for most office laser printers, your text is 600dpi. In the printing world, you text is being output anywhere from 1600dpi-3600dpi! These nice sharp solids are now being output at only 300dpi; in the case of most printing companies, that is about 1/3 of the standard resolution! The worst part is that when Photoshop rasterizes type, it is no longer solid! Look at

      Not your ordinary Apple Crisp
We’ve been fans of Ina Garten since we first saw her show, Barefoot Contessa, on the food network. Her recipes are simple to follow and emphasize flavor. The way I see it, if you are worried about calories, eat a smaller portion or make it less often. This apple crisp recipe is based on Ina Garten’s “Old Fashioned Apple Crisp” recipe from her book, Barefoot Contessa Parties! The first time my wife made this we knew we would be making it again and again. What sets this apple crisp apart from your average apple crisp is the presence of orange zest and nutmeg. A lot of apple crisp recipes have nutmeg, but usually only a fraction of a teaspoon. An entire teaspoon would be overpowering were it not for the added zests and juice of orange and lemon, which carefully balance the freshly ground nutmeg flavor. This isn’t apple-nutmeg crisp—the citrus, nutmeg, cinnamon and apple flavors balance each other very nicely and are complimented by a buttery brown sugar

      MEMC Wafers are Crisp
According to Eric Savitz of Barron's, the demand for solar power is so high that the solar industry has eclipsed the semiconductor business as the world's leading consumer of silicon wafers. This high demand has created a shortage of polysilicon, a material used in the manufacture of solar panels. The obvious play on the polysilicon shortage is MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR), one of the world's largest producers of silicon wafers. Unlike some of its rivals, MEMC produces most of its own silicon, and in fact sells some excess supply back into the market. The result is that MEMC benefits from soaring wafer pricing without suffering the associated increase in raw-material pricing. With solar energy catching steam in California, if solar panelled roofs become part of the government's agenda, stocks like WFR and ESLR will be huge winners. The recent correction in this stock presents a great buying opportunity at or below 37.-- Faisal Laljee

Group release CD in a crisp packet
The rock band Recoup have released their new track called “Remind You” nothing unusal about that you say, are but there is. This CD release is the first to use a recycled cover, and the cover is a used crisp (Chips) bag. They chose this item to use, because of the shape, a CD naturally fits inside an empty packet and that they are a single use item. What s great idea, it would good to see other eco friendly bands following Recoups example. Crisp and Clean Palm Springs
This would be part of Palm Springs High School. Since this town has less than 100,000 people, there's only one high school. Just looking at this image, one might think everyone here lives in a fantasy land. I mean look at the colors, they spill out into one's imagination. So clean, so crisp. And this is just the shigh school, the whole city has very strict architectural requirements. Even

      CRISP BROWNED BUTTER COOKIES
Cookies are all-time "must haves" at my place and since they are easy to make, and good for take along or for later (if they remain - which rarely happens!!!) I often make them. Here is an easy recipe for Crisp Butter CookiesINGREDIENTS:1/2 Cup Sugar1/3 Cup butter1 Egg1 tsp Vanilla1 Cup All-Purpose Flour1/2 tsp Baking Powder1/8 tsp Salt3 Tbsp of Chocolate Chips ( any variety) METHOD: Preheat oven to 400 degreeCook butter over medium heat until lightly browned and let it cool completely for 10 mins in a large mixing bowl.To the above add sugar, vanilla and egg and beat well for about 2 mins.Add the rest of the ingredients and beat well on low speed for another 2 to 3 mins or until well mixed. Note: Dough will be very soft but don't panic bcoz that is the way it should be.Stir in chocolate chips. Drop dough by 3/4 spoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten this with bottom of a buttered glass.Bake for 6 to 9 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Enjoy!!!

      Crisp and cool
Getting stuck on chardonnay this summer I decided to have another white wine with dinner the other night and decided to try a Sauvignon Blanc. A lot of times I find that Sauvignon Blancs are a little bit to sweet for my palate but the Grgich Hills Fume Blanc promised Dry Sauvignon Blanc so I thought, why not? And it kept it's promise. A great crisp, medium bodied wine with light rhubarb and floral on the nose. Nice acidity and grapefruit on the palate with a long finish. This is one of the best Sauvignon Blancs I have had and truly enjoyed it.Grgich Hill Fume Blanc 2005Napa ValleyDry Sauvignon BlancBuy it direct from the winery at www.grgich.com for $25 or find it for a bargain at www.wine-searcher.com from $10.95

Coco Crisp is a dirty bitch, Aki needs to defend himself!
If you watched the game last night you saw the confrontation between Manager Joe Maddon and Coco Crisp. Coco tried to steal second in the eighth inning of a 5-1 game and slid late and hard into Akinori Iwamura while being tagged out. It was a blatant cheap shot ...
