Chih__'s diary is much better than before. She still needs to improve more but I am happy with her progress. I think Diaries/Journals are a critical tool in the English teachers tool box. It is another way of breaking the communication barrier. I only wish I had started doing it sooner.If you see a diary with errors it is because i only correct a little at a time. My Saturday 8 and 9 year olds just did their first page in their Diaries. Minami, Minami, Kazuki and Natsumi all did a great job!!!These are 2 vets of the Diary system :) (2 were absent) and they are only in the 4th and 5th grades. I think the public School lessons must be mind-numbingly boring for them.This class (1 absent) will start studying "current events" as a vocabulary study tool which is an adult style lesson. Vintage 1990: I was a mere 26 years old and clearly not mature enough to be a mother of two. Oh, how my children loved their "nannies" (pacifiers). Shanghai is my jumping-off point for covering the Women's World Cup, and specifically the United States women's national team's attempts to reclaim a title lost four years ago on home soil. But while I'm traipsing around the country, attempting to figure out just how Abby Wambach's toe is feeling and if North Korea is indeed a sleeper or just the most overhyped flop-in-waiting since the Segway, the good folks at Page 2 agreed to humor my attempts at sharing some of the sights and sounds of both the tournament and the country that will host next year's Olympics.

The princess had a little fit this morning because she wanted to finish her breakfast on the living room sofa. "No, sweetheart, we eat eggs at the table, not on the couch." She didn't like being told no, but a little probing on my part brought out the real problem: she didn't want to sit on the dining room chairs because they "give my bottom an ow-ie."
I had to restrain myself from laughing.
