We had the opportunity to stop into J.J. Foley’s in Boston’s South End for a grand opening expansion party. The well known bar has just expanded to add a cafe where one can now get lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.
The spread of food, including mimosas, bloody mary’s, and full samples from the new brunch menu, was excellent, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was great - hopefully they will keep the restaurant in the southernmost room, where they had the grand opening party, as it definitely has more of an upscale bar feel than the other two rooms in the property.

A couple of nights ago we popped a bottle of the Foley 2005 Sta. Rita Hills Rancho Santa Rosa Pinot Noir. The nose is vibrant with red and black cherry, dark raspberry, black tea, and earth. On the palate, red and black cherry, blackberry, good acidity, and firm but integrated tannins. One more arbitrator will have his hands full this season, it appears. In a case very similar to the Jake Plummer - Broncos - Buccaneers episode, Jim Trotter of the San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting that the San Diego Chargers are seeking repayment a total of nearly $4 million in signing bonuses paid to former Charger Steve Foley that Foley earned while a member of the team.
Foley’s agent, David Levine, told the Union-Tribune that, “We talked settlement and thought we had it resolved, but the paperwork was never drawn up and signed. Actor Scott Foley, 34, has married former Brothers and Sisters actress Marika Dominczyk, 26, on Tuesday in a Hawaiian ceremony.
The couple, who met on the set of The Help, became engaged in October 2006 after nearly three years of dating.
Foley currently stars on the CBS drama The Unit. Dominczyk has a recurring role on Brothers & Sisters, and made appearances on the series Bones and North Shore.

Steve Foley might never play football again. He was shot last summer during an altercation with an off-duty police officer. The officer began following Foley in the southern part of San Diego on suspicion that Foley was driving under the influence. This off-duty cop followed Foley, in his civilian vehicle, to a neighborhood about 25 minutes away from where the cop began following Foley. When Foley exited the freeway he realized someone was following him. He stopped the car on the side of the road and exchanged words with the officer.
