Stoke frustrated Premier League leaders Liverpool for the second time this season after a 0-0 draw at the Britannia Stadium.
The Reds were lucky, in fact, not to be contemplating defeat after the home side carved out the best chances of the match.

Former Liverpool and Scotland defender Alan Hansen has insisted that Arsenal's win at Chelsea on Sunday does not mean that they are any more likely to win the title. The Gunners needed that victory to keep him in the hunt for the league, but Hansen told Football Pools.com that they still lack the consistency to go all the way. Liverpool have claimed the sole possession of the top spot in the English Premier League with a draw against West Ham at home (though I would have wanted to see all the three points in the bag). Arsenal did us a great favor by defeating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge (Chelsea's second home loss this season). I was counting on the Gunners to do their part which they did brilliantly although with a cont
Saturday was a day of Highs and Lows for the Big 4 of EPL. Arsenal was the shock of the week. They set themselves on the backfoot after a 0-2 home defeat to Aston villa. An own goal from Gael Clichy was followed by a Gabriel Agbonlahor strike - and they could even afford for Ashley Young to miss a penalty. Things became worse for Arsenal at the top of the table when its rivals MAN UTD, Chelsea and
A dazzling brace by Samir Nasri ensured that a pulsating match between age-old rivals Arsenal and Manchester United at the Emirates ended with all three points staying in London.Arsenal went into the match without a win in three games, minus a clutch of first team regulars including Robin van Persie and Emmanuel Adebayor and with the bookies certain that an away triumph was on the cards. The openin
A goal in injury time from Cesc Fabregas secured a 1-1 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, after the home team took the lead on the 85th minutes to a wonder strike from Grant Leadbitter.

An encouraging amount of character was shown last night as a young Arsenal side overcame their first proper pre season test thus far, defeating Stuttgart 3-1, judging by the look on his face, poor old Jens didn't seem to enjoy letting three is the old onion bag. The Arsenal line up was interesting, with Djorou playing at centre back and the much maligned Eboue in the centre of midfield, while

Arsenal pulled off a huge coup at the San Siro yesterday, notching two late goals to oust AC Milan from the Champions League. Gunners were at a disadvantage going into the game, with the teams having played a scoreless first leg at Emirates. But Arsene Wenger's side outplayed their Italian opponents a fortnight ago and they did so again today. Cesc Fabregas and Emmanuel Adebayor (on a brilliant assist by Theo Walcott) scored for the visitors. It was a very strong effort by Gunners after a pair of subpar performances in the Premiership (ties with the Birmingham clubs on back-to-back weekends). As for Milan, the defending champs never really found their form this season after a disastrous start and this was the logical outcome. Yes, they won the Club World Championship, but does anybody outs
You hate to see scenes like this on the soccer field and when it's the result of an intentional challenge by an opposing team's player it makes the whole thing even worse. I'm not going to provide any video links to Martin Taylor's vicious tackle of Eduardo da Silva. You know where to find them if that's your thing. Arsene Wenger has called for Taylor to receive a lifetime ban and for once I agree with him. The incident cast a dark cloud on what was otherwise a solid effort by Birmingham City and James McFadden at St. Andrews. Obviously Eduardo is lost for the season and also for the Euro championships that very well could have been a stage for his arrival as a soccer superstar. The 2-2 tie could also have wide-ranging consequences in the Premiership title hunt, as Man United's smackdown o

The top game in La Liga was undoubtedly the Barcelona derby. Andres Iniesta struck first for Barca, but Coro equalized midway through the second half. Earlier, Real Madrid saw off seventh-placed Racing Santander at the Bernabeu. Top-of-the-table Real got a brace from Raul and didn't seem to have much trouble, winning the game 3-1. There was a third liga game today: Arsenal vanquishers Sevilla lost at UD Almeira. The Andalusian side are now 11th, having lost their last three liga games since knocking off Real Madrid Nov. 3.Arsenal played a gritty game at Villa Park in today's top Premiership match-up, rebounding nicely from that (meaningless) Champions League loss at midweek. After going a goal down, Arsene Wenger's men outplayed their hosts in a stellar first half and then simply bunkered down in the second. Which is what you do when you get the lead on the road, especially at a place like Villa Park, where the home fans were in full-throated support. It was amazing how loud they we

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger is set to offer Congo striker Tresor Mputu a 10 day trial with the North London giants. The 21 year-old forward currently plays for TP Mazembe in the Congo, but with interest from teams across Europe, it seems like he will be leaving Africa soon.Salomon Idi Kalonda, director of Mputu's current club, has gone public on the trial."We've received an invitation from Arsenal for Mputu," he told News of the World."Talks began a long time ago but we didn't want to say anything before an agreement was reached."We ruled out a number of clubs before choosing Arsenal."The fact that Mputu chose to trial at Arsenal comes as a great success for the club, especially considering the promise that the youngster shows.Former Cameroon coach Claude le Roy, a man famous for his 'discovery' of Samuel Eto'o, has stated that Tresor Mputu is better than the Cameroonian Barcelona legend. The reported price of £500,000 could become the crown diamond in Arsene Wenger's already imp
Arsenal's leading goalscorer last season Robin van Persie should return to fitness in time for the Gunner's match against Wigan on November 24th. Philippe Senderos, an Arsenal center-back, should also be back in time for the match, although he is unlikely to start ahead of the likes of William Gallas and Kolo Toure.Van Persie's return is a great boost for the Gunners, as we have lacked a confident striker in the past few matches, despite Emmanuel Adebayor's early brilliance this season. The Togo international was guilty of missing lots of chances against both Liverpool and Manchester United, and could have - but didn't - score the winner in the 0-0 game against Slavia Prague on Wednesday after having been brought on as a substitute. The lanky African has formed an impressive striking partnership with Robin van Persie though, and the Dutchman's return should spark a return to goalscoring for both of the strikers.Unfortunately for Theo Walcott, Nicklas Bendtner, and Eduardo, the retu
This match is THE match of the season so far. Manchester United and Arsenal are level on points at the top of the table, grnated we have a game in hand, but a win in this game will give the victors a psycholgical edge going into the busiest part of the season. Both teams are playing brilliant attacking football with two slightly different styles; Arsenal's football is all about team play, United's slightly more about individual talent within the team.
Both teams are defending very well right now and look very solid at the back in open play. United will be a bigger threat from set pieces as we lack the dominance in the air they have. Aswell as a solid goalkeeper in Van Der Saar they have defenders who are capable of starting attacks while keeping it tight at the back. United have a perfect blend in Ferdinand and Vidic. The latter can dominate in the air with his partner having the pace to track players on the
I woke up early this morning with great excitement. We have played two three tough away games, travelling to Ewood Park, Upton Park and White Hart Lane. However none of these are tastier than going to Anfield. Yes Liverpool are in a bit of a rut, yes we are in good form – but tomorrow this counts for nothing. I for one cannot wait. Don’t get me wrong getting 7 points from these games is very good and if it wasn’t for a goalkeeping howler we would have a 100% away record. However away to Liverpool IS the first real test of our season; the pundits know it, the players know it and we the fans know it. Win this game and we really our on our way to a strong title challenge. Many are excited about welcoming Manchester United to the Emirates. For me this is most exciting. Not many teams go to Anfield hoping for a win but this year our squad is confident of doing just this.
There are many questions t

Arsene Wenger’s side were simply unstoppable as the Czechs were put to the sword in ruthless fashion at the Emirates Stadium as the Gunners clocked up the biggest winning margin in Champions League history. The Premier League leaders had the better of possession all night against a side who had never before lost to English opposition in Europe. That record, though, was always going to be severely tested by Wenger’s men, who continue to go from strength to strength. After seeing Cesc Fabregas blaze an early chance over the bar from close range and then surviving a brief rally by the hosts, Robin van Persie struck with 15 minutes left to ensure Arsenal’s impressive opening to the new campaign continues with a ninth straight win. Wenger said: “We decided to put pace in the game and score early, but we did not manage to do it. (Read the full post about ‘Wenger happy with cool Gunners’…)
After a break for the Internationals, the Premiership makes a welcome return this weekend, and the obvious highlight is Arsenal’s visit to Liverpool for which bet365 are betting to 107% and go 11/5 the Gunners with Liverpool at 11/10 (11/5 the draw). This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides this season and Arsenal have won all three so far, including twice at Anfield. That record suggests that the Gunners have got Liverpool’s number and, while we’re unlikely to see a repeat of the cup goalfests, we’d much rather be backing them over Liverpool, and doubling up on Newcastle at 5/6 who look a shoe-in to beat Man City. City were lucky to escape with a draw against Chelsea and were then fortunate to come up against a Boro side resting key players ahead of FA Cup commitments, and they won’t find Newcastle so generous. The Arsenal – Newcastle double pays £146.67 for a £25 stake at the current bet365 prices. It’s hard to see either Watford or Blackburn getting a re

Three players were sent off as Chelsea came from behind to win 2-1 and lift the Carling Cup for the second time in three years - but skipper John Terry was not around to lift the trophy after being taken to hospital following a sickening kick to the head.
In front of watching England boss Steve McClaren, Terry was knocked out cold as he took the full force of Abou Diaby’s boot in the face as the pair challenged for a loose ball in the Arsenal box just before the hour mark.
Terry swallowed his tongue during the drama - which left Diaby in tears - before eventually being carried off on a stretcher with an oxygen mask helping his breathing.
Although he was revived before leaving the Millennium Stadium, Terry will now undergo extensive tests before being allowed to play again.
The injury overshadowed an amazing game, in which Didier Drogba plundered his 27th and 28th goals of the season after Theo Walcott had put Arsenal ahead, but ended in the sourest manner imaginable with a ma
