In O Jogo

It was only a matter of time before a group of Major League Baseball players teamed with a renowned outdoorsman to create a series of deer hunting videos. David Dellucci, Russ Springer, and Mike Dejean, along with oustdoorsman Willie Robertson, have started Buck Commander, a company that will sell deer hunting videos featuring major league players.
Tomorrow the company will officially launch BuckCommander.com, allowing deer hunting aficionados to puchase videos featuring Todd Helton, Aaron Cook, Adam LaRoche, and Chipper Jones. In case you were worried, the tapes will not be about violence.
“These aren’t going to be videos about killing and killing. Every animal we harvest will be consumed by us or given to a food bank, needy families or churches,” DeJean said Saturday. “It’s about the camaraderie. We are hunters who just happen to be baseball players.”
Ah yes, the camaraderie of quietly sitting in a tree for five hours and then shooting an animal
With the Yanks slumping and still 11 games back in the AL East, you can bet that the team is going to do whatever it takes to get back in the race in the division. If that means going out and making some big news, so be it. One player that the team is eyeing according to the Denver Post is first basemen Todd Helton. While Helton has been a mainstay with the Rockies, the rumors of him being shopped around have been brewing for quite some time.Helton is hitting .354 with 5 homers and 26 RBI for the last place 21-27 Rockies. Last year he hit .302 with 15 homers and 81 RBI in 145 games, and the year before .320 with 20 homers and 79 RBI. His production the past two years is a far cry from earlier in his career, such as 2001, when he hit .336 with 49 homers and 146 RBI. Since that year his HR numbers have dropped from 49 to 30, 33, 20, 15. A change of scenery will not likey reproduce numbers like 2001, but he is a better hitter than the 15 homer he hit last year.He has done a nice job
Remember a few days ago when Rockies infielder Troy Tulowitzki turned an unassisted triple play? Somehow the ball ended up in Todd Helton's hands, who in turn tossed it into the stands. Huh?From the AP:Radio host Steffan Tubbs says he has the ball used in a rare unassisted triple play and has no intention of holding it for ransom or auctioning it off on eBay.Tubbs, co-host of KOA-AM's morning show in Denver, said Wednesday he just wants to give it back to its rightful owner -- Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. For a small price, of course."Anything he would feel like is a fair trade would be welcome," Tubbs said. "I'm just having fun with it. I never understood how you could hold a ball like that for ransom. This guy could play 500 seasons of baseball and never have that happen again. It's cool he wants it back, and he'll get it."Video shows Tulowitzki throwing the ball to Helton, but no video has surfaced showing Helton throwing the ball into the stands or anyone catchin
Will the Colorado Rockies rethink trading Todd Helton? According to the Denver Post, Helton has told the Rockies that he will veto any future trades that the Rockies bring to him.
So will the Rockies reconsider there demands and trade Helton to the Red Sox? I still think that this deal will be revisited and now with Helton’s demands, I can see the Rockies definitely opening up the channels of negotiation again. Maybe now they will backdown from their demands of a top prospect in order to get a deal done.
Either way, I think I would be happy. Without Helton, the 2007 Red Sox are still a great team. Acquiring Helton would only make the team better.

The talks between the Colorado Rockies and the Boston Red Sox involving Todd Helton are officially dead. The reason, the Red Sox will not give up Manny Delcarmen or Craig Hansen along with Mike Lowell and Julian Tavarez. This reluctance caused the Rockies to pull out of negotiations.
The Sox would have been willing to give up one of the prospects had Colorado “shown them the money.” A source close to the Red Sox front office said that the Rockies offer of paying upwards of $40 million dollars wasn’t “anywhere near as much as is being reported.â€
Rockies Owner Charlie Monfret had this to say:
“This is not a trade that we were anxious to complete, but we are always exploring ways to improve our team. Discussions like these regarding a player of Todd’s talent and character are never easy, and it’s not surprising we were not able to reach an agreement. Todd has been and will continue to be an important part of our franchise, and we can’t wa
The trade talks between the Rockies and the Red Sox have a hit a little snag right now. The Red Sox have offered up Mike Lowell and Julian Tavarez to the Rockies in exchange for Todd Helton and cash. Right now, the Rockies also want one of the Red Sox younger prospects from the group Jacob Ellsbury, Craig Hansen, Manny Delcarmen, Clay Buchholz, Daniel Bard and Jon Lester.
I am pretty sure that Daniel Bard can’t be traded since he was just drafted and signed last year. However that being said, I still think the Red Sox should part with ONE of them, but preferably not one of the starting pitching prospects. Currently, the Red Sox have 6 arms competing for 5 spots. The reason why I don’t think the Sox should trade a starter is because Wakefield and Schilling are approaching the end of their careers and will probably need to be replaced for the 2008 season.
Of course then again, trading anyone that is a bullpen prospect could be detriemental too because right now our bullpen i
Here is some serious Red Sox news that comes to you from the Denver Post.
The Rockies are in discussions with the Boston Red Sox involving a trade of Todd Helton, according to multiple baseball sources.
Nothing is imminent, but negotiations are expected to resume Monday or Tuesday when Rockies general manager Dan O’Dowd returns to work after tending to a family matter. Helton, 33, has a complete no-trade clause, but has said he would consider Boston. A source said Helton is aware of the current Red Sox talks.
Helton’s future became a central issue this week after owner Charlie Monfort told The Denver Post the franchise remains open to dealing the most accomplished player in the Rockies’ history.
Helton has six years and $90.1 million remaining on his contract, and the Red Sox could face luxury-tax penalties if they acquire the first baseman, issues that would have to be resolved.
The Rockies, however, have shown a willingness to eat a portion of Helton’s re
Sorry for the delay in the updates, I was out most of Saturday throughout the day and later in the evening. I'll try to have a Phillies team review by Monday. This upcoming week, I'll do the Chicago White Sox, Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs and the San Francisco Giants. Helton in Fenway? The Denver Post reports Rockie mainstay Todd Helton may be leaving the Rocky Mountains and heading to Boston. Helton has another *6* years and $90 million on his current contract with Colorado, but would waive it to go to the Red Sox. Todd Helton has always been a good hitter, but his numbers are in decline, as he hit .302 last year, his lowest batting average since his rookie and his power has been zapped. However, Boston's deep coffers can to subsidize this deal and his presence would make a great team on paper immaculate and possibly be better than the Yankees. In addition, with the short distance to the right field wall and the American League being so offensive based, his numbers migh
Who'd have EVER thought RJ Helton would've made such a GREAT album? I certainly didn't, and he certainly proved me wrong. I was never a fan of him on American Idol. I rooted for him to get voted off along with Jim Verraros and A.J. Gill since the very beginning. His stage presence wasn't very good, and his voice rarely complimented the songs he chose, though he did have a good voice. After hearing this CD, though, my opinion has totally changed-and I find RJ to have more potential than other contestants who placed even higher than him in other seasons of AI.RJ's R&B vibe took me aback at first. 'Even If' has become one of my favorite songs of his, with a catchy chorus and great vocals. The song tells of his relationship with God and I allows me to strengthen my religious relationship with the Lord as well, in the privacy of my own home without people judging me. I was also surprised with "My Devotion", "Freedom", and "Why don't we pray?", all three venturing out for a hip hop s
ESPN's Buster Olney is reporting that the Rockies and Red Sox are in talks about a potential deal that could send 1B Todd Helton to Beantown. According to Olney:"In the current proposal, the Red Sox would send (3B Mike) Lowell, (RP Julian) Tavarez and prospects to the Rockies. But the identity of the prospects could hold up the deal: The Rockies want relief pitchers Craig Hansen and Manny Delcarmen, while the Red Sox do not want to give up either at this time."To me, that would be too steep a price to pay. If the Red Sox did pull the trigger on the deal, they would have quite a powerful lineup, with Helton joining Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, and JD Drew. But if they had to give up even just one of the duo of Hansen and Delcarmen, that would leave their bullpen dubiously thin heading into the season. Unless the Red Sox know something about Joel Pineiro that the rest of us don't, the back end of their pen looks shaky. As it stands now, the Sox look to have one of the best lineups and ro
