The second installment of the College Hoops 2009 previews comes (mostly) from MoneyLine, who you likely know from The Money Line Journal, Contrarian Angles, the RMMB, and/or his generous monetary contributions to the contests on this blog. Expect him to be contributing in various capacities in the coming months. No conference odds this time, as Bodog has taken theirs down, and I can't find them an
The goal is to get six of these up in the next month. Hopefully this goes better than the Looking to October "series".The conference odds in the table below were taken from Bodog. The latter three columns are each team's overall, offensive, and defensive Pomeroy ratings from last year.North Carolina: This isn't how it's supposed to work. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to see Michael Jordan battle some of the world's greatest businessmen in a game of basketball?

I know this is a Warriors site but since we’re all hoops fans, just wanted to point this out as just ridiculous. The Rachel Leigh turquoise beaded hoops on the left have just the right amount of glam to punch up any outfit, but at $88.00 they're a tad steep for costume jewelry. After a quick search, I found a similar looking pair of hoops at Forever 21. They look light and airy and I think I actually prefer the fish hook hanger to the Rachel Leigh posts. You could also splurge on the designer earrings for Mom (Mother's Day is May 11th!) and get the fun cheap-o pair for yourself. (You'd do that for your mom, wouldn't you...?!)

Hansbrough will likely be back and Lawson's stock is down. Even if Lawson bolts injured PG Bobby Frasor is back and Danny Green is a very capable player as well. They only lose Quentin Thomas for sure and Deon Thompson and Alex Stephenson will be good as well.UCLA BruinsThey could still lose a lot. Kevin Love has already ann

Who watched the beginning of the Duke UNC game last night? In my 23 years and 10 months of life I have seen a lot of college basketball and last nights first 5 minutes and 6 seconds was one of the most electrifying games I have seen in a while. There was not one stoppage of play until 14:54 for an "Official" TV timeout. In that 5 minutes and 6 seconds there was 20 total shots taken. That's 1 every 15 seconds. If you are any kind of college basketball fan, screw it, just basketball fan, that was one segment of hoops for the ages. It was tough, hard-nosed, ACC, in-your-face, "March Madness" is in the air, basketball. I forced my girlfriend to watch most of it with me, after having to watch American Idol before (it was actually pretty funny) and she was even on the edge of her seat. In the cla
- Dick “Hoops” Weiss of the New York Daily News appeared on the Zonebusters today on 1570-AM in Louisville with Rick Bozich and Jody Demling and offered up the following on our boy, Eric Gordon:
“I think Eric Gordon is very special and NBA scouts think he’s special. For some people, the game comes so easy too. (Gordon) is one guy that has the NBA scouts salivating. When the draft comes I’m not sure he’ll be the No. 1 pick but I would take him.”
If there’s a better player in college basketball right now than Gordon, I’d love to see him. He’s a unique blend of speed, power and finesse that we may never see again in an Indiana uniform. The NBA mock draft sites are starting to take notice as well. NBAdraft.net recently moved him to the No. 3 slot just behind fellow freshmen Michael Beasley and Derrick Rose.
- ESPN’s Dick Vitale announced today via his Web site that he’s taking a leave of absence after surgery to have

The nearly 4,000-square-foot store, which also serves as a kind of community basketball hangout, features Nike, Jordan Brand and Converse brands, with each getting a branded area.

By: Nicky PilkingtonBasketball hoops play an important role in the game. This article will highlight the difference between home hoops and tournament regulation hoops used in official game play.Regulation hoops are hoops used in NBA and NBCAA tournaments. They are designed to be sturdy and durable, especially to bear the weight of a player slam dunking. The measurements of size and dimension of a regulation basketball hoop is determined by the tournament committee. Any changed to these measurements should be conveyed to all the teams.A regulation basket should ideally be 18 inches in diameter, and at least 5/8 inches thick, clamped to the backboard with steel clamps painted orange. The backboard is made of transparent material, glass for example, with a red light to signal the end of the playing period. This red light must be visible to all. The backboard measurements are 72 inches across, 42 inches high and 1/2-inch thick. This is by comparison much larger compared to home backboards
Interwoven chains weave together to create a sinuous feel. The chains are bedecked with accent beads in simulated freshwater pearls in champagne color and gold tone mesh. Large gold tone hoops link the pieces together creating perfect cohesion.

In Spain, learning how to drive is like attending University lectures. However, Spanish traffic control is not really concerned at all about safety, just semantics. They attempt to trick you with each and every question. [...]
Hilary Duff (source)I absolutely love the big hoops look and no one owns it more than Hilary Duff. By pairing this over the top jewelry look with understated makeup, a soft ponytail and understated jewelry, they really stand out on their own. (I also love her dark nail polish, but I digress). This summer, Duff was even seen at the beach wearing her large hoop earrings, so she must love them as much as we do!The key to wearing big hoops is to make sure they are a fabulous stand out to your look. Don't make them compete with a busy top or an equally interesting necklace. Also, beware of too big earrings that graze your shoulders, because that's just an uncomfortable look.If you love the luxe large hoop earrings look as much as we do, then check out this pair from Tarina Tarantino. Unique and sassy, these fabulous earrings speak for themselves:Tarina Tarantino Champagne Floating Hoops, $64.99

Hoops madness has come to Los Angeles this year. And this time, it’s with a twist—or more accurately, a flourish of filigree.Paris Hilton, Rihanna, Hayden Panettiere, JLopez—all the fashion-forward representatives of young Hollywood—have been snatching up giant pairs of ultrafemme earrings. But these aren’t your basic hoops. Think elaborate, almost Victorian, detailing that fills up the whole glorious thing.Source
DURHAM, N.H. (AP) — Gerry Friel, who was head basketball coach at the University of New Hampshire for 20 years, died Monday after a long illness. He was 64. Friel, who coached the team from 1969-1989, closed out his career with 188 victories, which ranks first among all UNH men’s basketball coaches in the 100-year history of the program. Friel posted back-to-back winning records in the 1982-1983 and 1983-1984 seasons. His 1973-1974 and 1982-1983 squads rank second in most wins during a more…
By Andy Gardiner, USA TODAY WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — College basketball lost one of its most popular and respected coaches Thursday when Wake Forest’s Skip Prosser died of an apparent heart attack on campus at age 56. Prosser was the only coach to take three schools to the NCAA tournament in his first year as coach: Loyola (Md.), Xavier (Ohio) and Wake Forest. His outgoing personality made him a top-flight recruiter and his tactical skills helped him build a career record of 291-146 in 14 more…

Connecticut had signed a contract to extend the annual game through the 2008-09 season, but Tennessee declined to extend the series.

So if your wondering what Terrell Owens is doing instead of going out and sweating with his teammates on the practice fields of the Dallas Cowboys, the answer can be told. He’s taking in a little hoops. Owens was on hand Saturday night at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland to take in game six of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Detroit Pistons.
T.O., dressed in a nice sweater and sunglasses, greeted Cavs officials as well as friends that he holds around the league as he and an unidentified youngester took in the game. This is not the first time that Owens was at a Cavs game recently, as he took in game three of the series last Sunday in Cleveland.
Many stories have been written latley about Owens, who just Friday got a $3 mil bonus for being on the Cowboys roster. He also will earn $5 mil next season with the team. Last year Owens had 85 grabs for 1,180 yards and 13 TD’s. He and Terry Glenn both passed on recent OTA’s with the Cowboy
Brandon Rush withdraws name from DraftThe KU star decided to stay for his junior season after withdrawing his name from the NBA Draft Friday.Even though I usually enjoy seeing college players return instead of jumping early, I am quite disappointed. It's always good for the college game, but I am a Missouri Tigers fan and I hate to see a KU player return to an already stacked Jayhawk team. Especially since his brother, Kareem, starred at Mizzou. But personally, I'd have to say it was a smart decision. I am sure he really thought about it hard and talked it over with his two brothers. I am sure he doesn't want to make the same mistake they did, especially Ja'Ron. Kareem had a solid 2-3 years but is currently no where to be found.I give credit to B. Rush for making a wise decision to stay, I just wish other college players would realize the NBA will always be there; I know I am not alone when I say this because the college game is simply just better, more entertaining and intense to w

We all know the 2006-2007 NCAA Men's Basketball Season just finished. But there are a lot of us anticipating next season already. With a lot of young talent out there this past season, next year should be just as exciting!Let's take a look at some of the top teams for 2007-2008:UNC Tar HeelsThe top team for next season definitely has to be the UNC Tar Heels. Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson, and Wayne Ellington all announced they were coming back. They have everybody returning but Reyshawn Terry, and the recent recruiting class should help fill that in. Brandan Wright still has to make a decision about his future, but even if he bolts for the NBA, UNC will still be the team to beat.UCLA BruinsThe Bruins will look to make another run at a Final Four berth with nearly everyone back. Their top scorer Aaron Afflalo already announced he will be entering the NBA Draft. I want to thank AND 1 for everything they've done for me. But I think it was just time for a change for me. I just wanted to do something different. 1. Florida (24-3)- Some may argue with me putting them here, but didn't they beat Ohio St. at the beginning of the season? So that's the main reason why I have them at number one still. Plus I won't discredit their loss to an improved Vanderbilt team at all. But still, this Gator team has the best starting five in the country, but in order to maintain a one seed they need to get through the toughest stretch of their schedule playing South Carolina at home, at LSU, at Tennessee, Kentucky at home, and the brutal SEC Tournament.Next game to keep an eye on: vs South Carolina 2/212. Wisconsin (26-3)- The Badgers were my number one, but they fell tonight to Michigan St.; huge loss for them. Wisconsin is still the team to beat in the Big 10, and there's no reason to doubt them winning the Big 10 title. Alando Tucker is putting up player of the year type numbers with 20.4 ppg and 5.5 rpg. The experience is showing for this Badger team and there is no doubt they will be a one seed by tourna
1. Florida (20-2)- The Gators are on fire and are riding a 13 game winning streak. Florida is no doubt the top dog right now and have a very balanced scoring attack. After 2 losses earlier in the year, Florida is on a roll averaging 82.3 ppg and shooting 54.0% from the field. With quite a few impressive wins at home, the Gators still haven't played a substantial amount of games on the road. With big games coming up vs Vanderbilt, (who is surprising a good amount of people) and rival Tennessee, the Gators can ready themselves for two tough road games with Georgia and Kentucky.Next game to keep an eye on: vs Tennessee 2/03.2. North Carolina (19-2)- UNC has been very impressive lately and have turned it up a notch on the defensive side quite a bit. The freshmen are starting to develop and can just about run this UNC offense to perfection. With outstanding wins over Arizona, Georgia Tech, and Clemson, this team is rolling on it's momentum since the tough V-Tech loss.Next game to keep an
Mario Hoops is hard to review. Nintendo and Square-Enix put so much production and money into the game, that it is very distracting when trying to review the game on its own merits. This game screams big-budget! It's the equivalent of a summer blockbuster movie...only it's a video game on Nintendo DS. When I first picked up Mario Hoops, played through the tutorial, and started playing I was blown away by the graphics, presentation and even the unique gameplay.
