UW at Arizona: Huskies looking for moral victories
If they’re not already there, the Huskies are headed for moral victory territory. This is the place where winning isn’t everything. Or anything, really. You do what you can on the field and look for those shiny nuggets of hope. The worst case scenarios have unfolded. An 0-4 start. Last week’s crimpling loss to Stanford. A coach who has a lame duck sign stuck to his back. And most painful, an

A must win for the Huskies
Washington’s game against Stanford tonight is a must win. A have-to win. It’s not hyperbole to suggest that a loss to Stanford would essentially end the Huskies’ season. The Huskies are 0-3, but have lost to three very talented teams. Oregon’s spread offense and ability to reload every year, I hate to say, are the envy of most programs. BYU’s talented quarterback Max Hall gives opponents

Polar Bears + Huskies = Adorable
I've been meaning to post about this story since I saw it on the web last week. The Daily Mail has this amazing story of polar bears playing and cuddling with a team of huskies in northern Canada. For those of you who have not seen the video yet, I definitely recommend watching it! It's truly amazing and heart warming to watch those big polar bears cuddling the dogs. However, I don't think the dogs get the same enjoyment from these bear hugs! hahaKiller polar bear? I'm just a big teddy, really! on the Daily Mail

Absarokee Public Schools "Home of the Huskies"
The final reports from the office of public instruction indicate that the elementary, junior high and high school made AYP for the 2007 school year.  That's good news in that the Absarokee schools have met the accountability goals in area required my No Child Left Bhind.  However, the annual measurable objectives (AMO) to achieve AYP increased to 83 percent proficient advanced in reading and 68 percent proficient advanced in mathematics for the school year 2007-2008.  Because of class size in the high school, AYP was determined by the Montana Small School Accountability Process (SSAP).  There were a total of 357 points and Absarokee High School had 354.5 points or 99.3 percent.  The SSAP is based on several significant factors.  These factors include CRT scores, NRT scores, the Effectiveness Report of the five-Year Comprehensive Plan, CRT improvement, NRT improvement, and attendance or graduation rate. Making AYP is not necessarily a true indicator of

      Siberian Huskies are Great Pets
My friend is, or rather was, a proud owner of 5 cute Siberian Huskies, all of which courtesy of his long time pet dog Siberian Husky “Russian.” I say “was”, because everyone loves them so much that all were either bought from him or given as gifts to friends. Despite its mean wolfish appearance, the Huskies are very lovable and love to please their master. And it is this vicious look of the dog that makes it all the more in demand as a pet among dog lovers. Because it belongs to the working breed of dog, the Huskies are very energetic and physical. They would enjoy a great deal of time running and exploring the grounds. Did you know that Huskies were originally designated as sled dogs in Alaska? However, they immediately got popular as pet dogs, as well as dogs for show competitions. It is not uncommon for many families to own a Siberian as a pet dog. My friend said most of his Huskies have blue eyes, which is actually the common eye color for this type of dogs. Another charac

Huskies claim national title – in 1960
Only the University of Washington Huskies would try to pull some bullshit like this. I don’t think there is a bigger group of charlatans in all of collegiate sports. First they invented the “Northwest Championship” title back in ‘02 to feel better about their shit season and now they are claiming that a 47 year old National Championship actually belongs to them despite the fact a different team was voted #1. When discussing this with Hank he had this to say about the Huskies logic “That’s like getting a handjob on prom and then telling everyone you lost your virginity at 17 because you busted a nut.” UW decides to elevate ‘forgotten’ football team alongside 1991 national champions

Win Not in the Cards For the Huskies
Terrence Williams, with 17 points, led the Louisville Cardinals past the UCONN Huskies 76-69 at the Hartford Civic Center on Sunday afternoon. Derrick Caracter added 16 points and Earl Clark chipped in 11 points. UCONN had four players in double figures led once again by Jerome Dyson, who had 23 points. Jeff Adrien added 16 points, AJ Price had 11 points and Craig Austrie finished with 10 points. The two teams traded baskets for most of the first half as neither team could pull away. However an 8-1 run by the Cardinals put them up by 9 points. The teams again exchanged baskets as the Cardinals took a 9 point lead into the locker room. The second half was much of the same early on as UCONN could pull no closer than 7 points. UCONN kept fighting hard and eventually tied the game up at 58 on a Dyson 3 pointer. The Cardinals again took the lead by 2 but an Adrien basket tied it up at 60. Louisville then went on an 8-3 run and UCONN could not get any closer. Notes and Observations: The sta

      Yellow Jackets Sting Huskies
In their first game at the Georgia Dome in 5 years, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defeated the UCONN Huskies by the final score of 65-52. The Yellow Jackets were led by a double-double from Thaddeus Young, who had 14 points and 12 rebounds. Javaris Crittenton had 13 points and both Mario West and Anthony Morrow each contributed 10. UCONN was led by Jeff Adrien’s Big East leading 13th double-double of the season. He had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Jerome Dyson was the only other Husky in double figures with 10 points. The first half really lacked any flow. Both offenses struggled early and often but a 19-4 Georgia Tech run put Tech up 13 points. An 8-3 run by the Huskies to the end half got UCONN within 8 at the half. UCONN scored 4 points in the first 7 minutes of the second half as the Yellow Jackets built their lead to 17 points. The lead got as high as 22 before an 8-0 run by UCONN got them back within 14 points. UCONN never got closer than 10 points as the Yellow Jackets hit

DePaul Survives Late UCONN Run to Defeat Huskies
Draelon Burns, who scored 26 points, helped the DePaul Blue Demons survive a late UCONN run and defeat the Huskies by the final score of 66-58. Wilson Chandler added 14 points to go along with 9 rebounds while Sammy Mejia added 10 points. UCONN was led by Jerome Dyson, who scored 16 points. Jeff Adrien added yet another double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. The first half was rather ugly as both teams really couldn’t get much done offensively and had trouble keeping control the ball. UCONN led for most of the first half until DePaul went on a 9-0 run to go up by 5 points with a minute to go in the first half. Craig Austrie added a layup to cut the lead to 3 points but Burns hit a 3 point shot at the buzzer that seem to set the tone for the second half. DePaul came out in the second half with the momentum from Burns shot to end the first half and got out to a 20 point lead. With about 11 minutes to go in the game, UCONN started to chip away at the lead and got it down to 3

Louisville Uses Strong Second Half to Defeat Huskies
The Louisville Cardinals shot lights out early in the second half as they overcame a 3 point halftime deficit to defeat the UCONN Huskies on Monday night by the score of 68-54. Louisville was led by David Padgett, who scored 19 pts and added 11 rebounds, and by forward Terrence Williams, who added 19 pts and 9 rebounds. Juan Palacios chipped in with 16 points. For UCONN, they were led by Sophomore AJ Price, who scored 17 points. Jeff Adrien was a monster on the glass, pulling down 15 rebounds and adding 11 points to the cause. Both teams were awful in the first half as neither team could find the basket. Louisville started out the second half with a 9-1 run and UCONN was ice cold. UCONN was held scoreless for 11 straight minutes, 3 of those in the first half. Louisville was scoreless for nine minutes in the second half but converted 21 free throws to hold off the Huskies. Notes and Observations: We suck. The starters were Wiggins, Dyson, Robinson, Thabeet, and Adrien. Did I mention we

Thabeet & Robinson Fuel Huskies Past Red Storm
Well the original headline of this story was “UCONN Weathers The Red Storm” but I browsed on over to uconnhuskies.com and saw their headline. So I had to change mine. Anyways on to the game story. Using stellar play from freshman Hasheem Thabeet and Stanley Robinson, the UCONN Huskies defeated the St. John’s Red Storm 68-59 on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. Thabeet had 12 points, 10 rebounds and 7 blocked shots. Robinson was absolutely amazing tonight in scoring 13 points and adding 12 rebounds. AJ Price rounded out the scoring with a game high 15 points. UCONN got going early in the game getting out to a 12-0 lead before the Red Storm scored their first basket after the first media timeout.  Their lead stayed at double digits for most of the game and St John’s never got closer then six points the rest of the way. UCONN made almost all their free throws down the stretch for the final margin. Notes and Observations: The starters were Price, Dyson, Rob

Lady Huskies Dominate Sacred Heart; Geno Gets 600th Win
On Sunday afternoon, the UCONN Lady Huskies took care of business beating the Sacred Heart Pioneers by the score of 82-40 and in the process, got their coach his 600th career victory. With the victory, Geno Auriemma became the fastest coach in women’s basketball history to get his 600th win, needed just 716 games to do it. It took Pat Summit, Tennessee’s women’s coach, 734 games to do it. UCONN was led by freshman Kaili McClaren’s first career double-double, 14 points and 15 rebounds. Tina Charles came off the bench to add 15 points and 11 rebounds. Renee Montgomery added 14 points to the cause as well. Notes and Observations: In a class move by the UCONN folks, they stopped the game when Sacred Heart’s Amanda Pape took over the career scoring lead at Sacred Heart. Sacred Heart’s coach had gone over to the locker room at halftime and asked Geno Auriemma if they would stop the game when she broke the record. Geno, being the great guy that he is, sa

North Carolina can't stop the almight Zabian Dowdell; Huskies get another win.
On Tuesday night, Virginia Tech defeated North Carolina 81-80 in overtime. This win gave the Hokies 18 overall and more importantly two against conference rival UNC. Part time superstar and full time P-I-M-P, Zabian Dowdell scored a career high 33 points and after the game he did us all a favor and ripped off Howie Mandel's stupid soul patch. The Tar Heel's big man, Tyler Hansbrough had a good game with 22 points and 8 boards but Dowdell and Deron Washington(who scored 12 and grabbed 14 rebounds) forced Wayne Ellington to throw up an awkward looking three after the buzzer had sound and preserved the victory and all but guarantee them themselves a top 10 seed in the NCAA tournament with yet another impressive road win against a Top-5 team."Something special brewing around the program," Dowdell said.In case you missed it, Connecticut won again Wednesday raising their season total to 16 and brings them within 1 win from a .500 record in the Big East.
