Another week gone! Here is the latest painting I have finished for The House of Puzzles. It's 28" x 20" and as with all of the jigsaws, it is a very busy scene with lots of little details to keep puzzlers happy. (Hopefully). As yet untitled, but thankfully that isn't my job!As an aside, one thing I have learnt from this painting is that I really don't like Fabriano paper at all. Since I already knew this, quite why I decided to buy 10 sheets of it a while back is anyone's guess. But I thought I'd give it a go since its here; sadly it just made a tricky painting harder and I won't be using it again. Ever! If there are any fans of it out there (and someone must like it) you can have the remaining sheets for the cost of postage if you get in touch...I will be sticking with Arches, Saunders and Two Rivers. Rant over, and back to the pigeons.

I seem to be writing a lot about metaphors I use from time to time in therapy. The fact is that I don't use metaphors all the time, nor do I use any of the ones I'm writing about a lot, but I think they're fun, sometimes they're very useful, and I'm finding them easy to write about.From time to time a client just starting therapy may profess some confusion about what to talk about. This can especially be the case with people who have a lot of issues going on or who haven't previously talked much about their life experiences and are unaccustomed to organizing their thoughts into a linear narrative. I learned something new this weekend. You can do jigsaw puzzles online. I feel like a whole new world has opened up for me. My addiction to jigsaw puzzles started when I was a little girl and I helped my grandmother put 1000 piece puzzles together. When our sons were younger, I took a break from puzzles. When you have very young children, it's difficult to keep a puzzle out on a table. Little hands reaching up to grab the pieces, maybe putting the pieces into their mouths. Since I was a child I have always enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. In my childhood I used to do big ones, some of the very difficult. Later when I traveled to India I saw the monks working on their mandala’s, graphics made out of grains of sand which looked very similar to my childhood puzzle activities though a lot more sophisticated.
