Mondays are always a bit of a challenge, even less time than usual. Today we are stuck with a scribble I did in the greenroom at lunchtime.
I have mentioned it time and time again on this blog. I hate lunch. Everyday it sneaks up on me and I just stare at the cupboards and fridge waiting for something to make itself Mary Poppins style. And now add to the complication that Lily needs lunches packed for school. So I have [...]
That was great graffiti on the corner of the Terrace and Salamanca Road in Wellington today. Despite National’s fuzzy explanations saying that the party will not sell Kiwibank should it get into office, I reckon most Kiwis don’t believe them. Nor should they have reason to. For some of us, National’s obsession with privatization in selling off
If you were a woman instead of a man (or vice versa), what is something that you would do differently?
How do you think your day to day life would be different?

Okay, lunch time is here. I did good in that I brought a healthy-ish lunch, a small portion of left over spaghetti, an apple and Activia yogurt. I am having a hard time staying motivated. I just keep telling myself that if you fall off the wagon, just get back on and put the past behind you. So far it has worked for me, even when we go out to restaurants and I have a large meal, I just put it behind me and work harder the rest of the week. My biggest challenge right now is exercise, I know that my lack thereof is really impacting my loss and health, but it is so hard to get into it.
Yesterday we had one of those exhausting school mornings: toddlers keep interrupting; no one can concentrate; mental meltdown. I think this picture says it all:
You can’t just hand out PB & Js after a morning like that, right? We needed something different. Opening the refrigerator, I spied the Queso Fresco…
I had purchased [...]
I got a new class! Starting Thursday, February 28, I will be teaching a Zumba Kids class! Yay! I can't wait, especially since Jo and Devy can come too. I told them a while back that this might happen, and they were all kinds of excited. I haven't had a chance to tell them that it's actually on the schedule. Can't wait to see what they say!So um...any ideas just what to do with a bunch of 5- to 14-year-olds? Gah!Oh, and I just had lunch. I know, I know, no one cares what you had for lunch, but it was really good! Birds Eye frozen foods now has "Steam & Serve" frozen veggies, and the last time I was in the store I saw "Asian Vegetables with Roasted Cashews (with pasta in a sesame ginger citrus soy sauce)," and thought, "Mm, sounds good to me, but I bet my family will hate it! Let's get i

Today is the first day of my annual reserve duty or in-camp training with the Singapore Armed Forces. Once again I’ve somehow been drawn to be part of the advanced party with the officers and appointment leaders though I am just an NCO. Oh well…
Just a little background for those unfamiliar with the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and this in-camp training obligation.
All able-bodied male citizens aged 18 or above have to serve in the Armed Forces for a mandatory period of 2 years (2.5 years in my time), after which they are discharged but are bound by law to report for duty and re-training every year till they are 40 years of age. Each training period can last up to 40 days by law.
With the background out of the way, what was interesting was that I had a nice little discussion with some fellow Christians over lunch about Israel, particularly about the Israel Defense Forces.

Sanford Ale House50 Towne Center CircleSanford, FL 32771http://www.alehouseinc.comWhere is it?From the entrance, go left, past half of the dining room, then the bar, then the high-top tables behind the bar, and then head to the back corner, past the pool tables and high tops behind the bar, until you reach a small wall dividing the dining room and the waitress stations. Go behind the dividing wall and head left (go right and you'll find the soft drink fountains) and you'll find the bathrooms there. What's it like? This sports bar chain has several locations in the area. It's a semi-rowdy place that's a big hit with sports fans, especially the college football fans of the area. Inside, the place is styled like a classic New England pub, filled with wooden floors, a well-polished, enormous wooden bar in the center, plenty of wooden tables and high-tops and a vast array of TVs and beer signs on the walls. The food is decent enough, though at times its too greasy (I always feel like I g
I'm sitting outside at Wahoo's, reading Artyam Borovik's THE HIDDEN WAR. Written in 1990, this first-hand account concerns the Soviet Union's ill-fated decision to invade Afghanistan in 1979 and how that decision destroyed that country. I've only finished the introduction, but if you changed the politicians' names and the locale from Afghanistan to Iraq, it could have been written today, right down to the passage about how the war would go much better "if only we can add another twenty or thirty thousand men".I wonder if this place serves vodka.
Today I fancied half an hour away from the office. So, a 5-minute bike ride later, I was snapping away in our beautiful park. Plenty of blooms, trees back in place and the cafe open. Oh, and those crazy geese that chase you off the grass!

What I think:
*Note to any bosses at work who might read this: It's lunchtime, OK?
I'm not blogging during working hours. So there.
The weather in Helsingborg has been weird this winter. It's been so mild, with hardly any snow, and the little that we did have melted in no time.
Then yesterday, it started snowing. Lots.
And this morning, The Local (Sweden's news in English) reported that
As the weather was so good today I thought I'd take my camera out to take a few photographs in Queens Park, Bolton, which is where I can usually be found wandering around during my lunch hour looking at this amazing space right in the middle of town.I usually approach from the entrance nearest the centre of town which passes through an abundance of Buddleia, these in turn attract a variety of butterflies, one of which was this Comma as well as the usual suspects of Red Admiral, Small Tortoiseshell, Painted Lady and Peacock.I could quite happily watch these colourful insects all day but I continue on over a small bridge into the bottom area of the park. The area where I walk is bordered on one side by the River Croal on which many water birds reside, mainly Mallard, Coot and Grey heron On some days, if you're lucky you can see a couple of Kingfishers flying up and down hunting for fish or maybe a Dipper running up and down the river bank.During the spring and summer Brown Trout can eas
