Menswear inspired shoes: Belle by Sigerson Morrison stiletto heeled oxford booties The menswear inspired shoe trend continues, and thus far this Belle by Sigerson Morrison stiletto oxford (US$295) is the most feminine incarnation I’ve seen. I’m quite fond of the black version, but I feel that the visibility is somehow lacking, and that the cute design isn’t as apparant as it could be. In the gray version, however, the suede and laces, sleek lines, contoured shape all complement each other quite well. The soft color and delicate shape are unmistakably feminine, while the top laces and oxford design are quite cutting-edge trendy. It has become customary, it seems, to make some kind of connection between what is being shown on the catwalks and what is being shown on CNN. Thus you get endless nonsense, every time a pair of combat trousers appears on the runways, to the effect that this is a reference to “our military times” and that scowly models are some kind of commentary on “the paranoid times in which we live” (yes, those are direct quotes). Maybe I’m a conventional sort but, personally, if I want to talk about the war, I’ll do it orally, not sartorially.

Lanvin, one of the rarest & pricier brands in fashion, placed the cherry on top of the sundae at the menswear spring 2008 runway show. Like last year, the collection consisted of some of the best men's footwear from simplicity to eye candy. The collection showed gold high top sneakers perfect to wear with a pair of raw, unwashed, jeans while it also had bronze oxford lace up shoes. Our favourite building in New York is the Public Library.
The library is probably the greatest Beaux-Arts building, Carrère & Hastings the architects of the Library won a competition to design it, studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and they were very familiar with French architectural ideas.
And they took the ideas of the Opéra and other public buildings and adapted them for New York to create this great masterpiece.
The Library currently has an exhibition ‘A Rakish History of Men’s Wear’ (showing until April 07) it provides an opportunity for viewers to trace the social, cultural, political, and aesthetic influences that have shaped the development of men’s fashion,” said Paul LeClerc, President of The New York Public Library. “The Library’s rich trove of historical costume and fashion plate materials are an invaluable resource for anyone interested in understanding the forces that have shaped styles of dress from antiquity to today
One of our favourite buildings in New York is the Public Library at 42nd Street. It’s one of the great Beaux-Arts buildings, designed by Carrère & Hastings who won a competition to design it when studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and they drew heavily on French architectural ideas.
