Let’s play a game of “What-if?” What if Mos Def was elected president or Wyclef? Although Barack Obama won this election, it looks like he might have some competition from Mos Def and Wyclef in 2012? Mos Def has some great ideas about a flat 10% tax, having an election weekend instead of election Tuesday, [...]
On the evening of November 5, The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has issued a warrant for the arrest of Brooklyn rapper/actor Mos Def aka Dante Smith. Mos Def had "allegedly" assaulted Volker Corell an official photographer for the MAGIC convention. Corell says Def ripped away his camera, and threw the equipment to the ground before walking away with it. Corell says to have suffered a cu
Good Magazine presents Mos Def elaborating on the changes that he would implement if given the opportunity to be president. He touches on everything relevant from political bureaucracy to holidays, and using the force for the good, not the dark side (seriously). Mos’ dialog is hilarious and a must watch, after the jump.

Mos Def just released a new song by the name of "Life in Marvelous Times," produced by Ed Banger's Mr Flash. This doesn't sound like anything Mos Def has ever released, and you can definitely hear the Mr Flash in it. It's really interesting to hear their two sounds together. Makes for a pretty good song. Give it a listen. Happy Halloween everyone!Mos Def - Life in Marvelous Times (Produced By
Mos Def is President:
The truth about ACORN (seriously, take a minute to listen to this. Just to set the record straight):
Hopeline (I found this video touching because of the fact that the primary contibuters are young people):
Gosh, I keep trying to ditch the political stuff but it keeps coming up.

I find it amusing that during times of strive, and blatant injustices such as the Sean Bell verdict, BET allows the “consciousness” rappers to speak and bring forth their assessments. But as soon as the case becomes yesteryears news in a few months, its back to makin’ it rain on these hoes. Regardless Nas, Talib [...]

Yea the brotha likes to sing, but don’t for a second think that since he’s dropping a track entitled ‘Pretty Dancers’, means he’s going soft. The track is actually dedicated to the GOAT in the boxing ring, Mohammed Ali. For after he dealt the forever memorable ass wupping upon Sonny Liston in 65′, he referred [...]
My man Mos Def has joined the cast in the forthcoming movie, "Cadillac Records". Actor/Rapper Mos Def will portray guitar legend Chuck Berry in the movie based on the real success of the legendary Chess Records label. My dude right here is off the hook, I loved him in "Brown Sugar", and I can't wait to see him in this flick. Beyonce will star as Etta James in the movie and Adrien Brody will play Chess co-founder Leonard Chess. Alongside them, Jeffrey Wright, Eamonn Walker and Cedric the Entertainer will also star in the film. Gabrielle Union has also signed on to the cast. Darnell Martin, who wrote the script is also directing "Cadillac Records" which is currently filming in New Jersey. This is a star studded picture, can't wait to see it.You have been blessed with the grace of the Panther
Word to mother, I'm about to pack this shit up for the night, but before I leave I want to leave you with this nice three piece that the good folks at Karmaloop TV just sent me. It's a good, but kinda cooky, interview that they conducted with Mos Def. In the session, they talk about Politics, Michael Vick and Roger Clemens. I encourage you to check this out because my man's and em definitely has

While visiting the old set of A Fresh Prince Of Bel Air (it seems…), a furious Mos Def expressed his discontent regarding the media’s latest hot topic: Steroids. I wholehearted agree with the brotha too, steroids could never have the capacity to be considered “real news” in this day and age. There are much more [...]
NEW IN THEATERS: Jerry (Jack Black) has an unusual problem: his brain becomes magnetized, which wipes out the entire stock of his friend Mike's (Mos Def) video store. With all the tapes blank, Jerry and Mike set out to recreate every film ever made to make sure the store's most loyal customer, an elderly woman, keeps coming back to rent something.
The mighty Mos Def aka the most beautiful boogey man drops a gem of a performance at Elysée Montmartre, Paris. But to be real, Undeniable is still his best performance to date (IMO). Also featured is the high octane hardcore from MOP. From what I can gather this clip is from September so please excuse the tardiness, and check Mos & M.O.P.’s brilliance after the jump. (more…)

Well apparently Mos’s and Ye’s freestyle session we saw on Tuesday wasn’t it in its entirety, heres part two. Ye’ comes a little harder then last time, as the crowd acknowledges him a bit more then previously. Mos also comes a bit harder as well, and doesn’t appear to be using premeditated raps this time around either. Check the footage out after the break. (more…)

Mos Def made the trek to Louisiana in support of Jena 6 yesterday... If more hip-hop icons could join Mos Def in this effort to see justice done, maybe they can teach up-and-coming hip-hop hopefuls to take out their grills, take off their diamond chains, leave their trophy whores and stand for something actually worth rapping about
If you can remember my brief report on Black August a whiles ago, which is these brotha’s attempt to raise awaresness and promote human rights though supporting and influencing the global development of Hip Hop culture. Mos Def got in a tizzy with the paparazzi outside of Hyde nightclub last night. Pissed off that the photog wouldn't delete the shot, Mos first used his words to try and convince the guy to do what he wanted saying, "I'm not from around here" and "You're violating my space." Just when it seemed eveything was peace one of Mos Def's people tried to snatch the camera away. The photographer who by the way resembles Suge Knight held on held on for dear life. Anyway...just check out the video. I feel you Mos on being violated and all, but as a member of the press myself-these folks are just trying to do their job! You're a celebrity...it's all part of the territory, so deal with it.
The sentencing of former Illinois death row inmate Aaron Patterson on drug and weapons charges took a turn for the strange yesterday when rapper and actor Mos Def showed up to testify on his behalf.
If you went ahead and checked out miss info’s article on the SOB performance of the year, you would of seen Mos perform this joint. The video after the break is actually a better version with consideration to the audio quality, but yea definitely check it out even if you have already. Mos just had to remind y’all that he still got it, expect some pretty hard punchlines in this joint, just becuase the brotha decided to do a couple flicks doesn’t mean anything. (more…)
