Seems Obama stumbled into the usual open mic gaffe that is so common to politicians at international meetings while he was talking with British opposition leader David Cameron. However, instead of inadvertently announcing the start of World War III, or calling reporters assholes, he...well read the transcript for yourself:--------------------------------------------CAMERON: You should be on the bea

We had Erik Christensen and Che tonight for open mic, plus some nice ladies finished the night with a full chorus line. Here's the video.

So here's the deal.....I recently wrote a piece about how to get booked for your first show.
In that piece, I told everyone to go and find ALL the open mic
nights around, sign up and start playing. After you play, meet the
owners, talk a little shop, get booked. It's that easy. This is great
advice (trust me, I know what I'm talkin' about), but then I thought to
myself.... "Self, couldn't you help just a little bit more??"Well, sure I can!! So here's the skinny: We're starting an regular open mic night program at Little Rock Jams.During the first class, we'll decide on a song list for the open mic night. In the subsequent classes,
I'll help you learn the songs, teach y
Looks like the switch over to the new virtual personal server (VPS) was made last night. If you havn't experienced any downtime, I wouldn't expect any from here on out. It does looks like we lost a few comments and info from the past day or so, but nothing too horrible. Also member posters might notice that the FTP (of pictures, etc) is not currently working, but that should be linked back up fairly quickly.
Now we will see if my VPS has enough dedicated RAM or god forbid I might have to purchase more...

Here's the recording of the open mic. We started late, but had a nice time. Will Jobsen opened with a nice little concert, then Russ Lamb and Robert Boneish collaborated on some songs. We stayed open till after 11pm, because we were having so much fun.

Just got back from another open mic night at the coffee shop down the street from my house. Have I told you yet that I love where I live?
Anyways, I’ll just make this post brief, but I really want to encourage you to attend an open mic somewhere in your city. I’m talking about [...]
Here's the recording of our weekly open mic, every Friday. Great, great open mic tonight. We started with Will Jobsen, then Robert Boneish, then Russ Lamb, and then Vinnie Labrador too! The guys also jammed in various combinations -- instigated by Vinnie.
Several wildly different sets tonight at open mic. First we had "Trilogy", headed by Ms. Kitty. Then I read one of my favorite stories, by Gerald Durrell. Here's the video.
Later, Robert Boneish showed up and did a few numbers. Always a treat to have Robert at Rockhoppers. I recorded him, too.
All in all, a very pleasant, low-key open mic.
Open your mic on Whidbey Island.
What a night! We had so many guitars here, I kept looking around for Ed Newkirk or Chaz Glass. (When Ed and Chaz played here, they brought a lot of guitars. It was like a Martin guitar family reunion.) Alyssa, Rena, Eddie, Dex, Don and my guitars were all here. We also had a fiddle, and several young people borrowed Eddies guitar for a few numbers.
I managed to get most of the night on video, so I'll be posting highlights. We had several people watching our live streaming video, hope it looked and sounded OK. We're still working out the details of using the webcam.
Here's Eddie. Eddie hosts a song circle, and he's moving it to Rockhoppers Tuesday nights. Watch for more on that, and we'll stream that video too.
Dex is becoming an open mic regular -- and we're glad to have him.
We convinced James to play a song or two. This is the one I got on video.
Text about Whidbey Island goes here.
Clinton: “We’ve got to talk, because they are just being trivialized.”
Edwards: “They are not serious.”
Clinton: “No.”
Clinton: “I think there was an effort by our campaigns to do that. That got somehow detoured. We got to get back to it, because that’s all we’re going to do.”
Clinton: “Our guys should talk.”
SUMMARY: Hillary “I am better than you other candidates, thus I need more light, camera, and action time!”
Last night was one of those rare evenings when I didn't have to rush from work to the daycare. The hubby had taken the day off to go golfing. Afterwards he decided to pick up the boys early and take them fishing on the Reservoir. This meant I didn't have to worry about being Mommy for a few hours. I could do whatever I wanted!
I had to return some books I had borrowed from my mom. We

So, no-one showed up for open mic tonight, the first time that's happened. I've given up trying to figure out the traffic patterns of when and why people come to Rockhoppers. It's like waiting for a bus -- no matter when you get to the bus stop, or what time the bus is scheduled, the bus comes when the bus comes.A friend or two did show up, and we swapped stories. Here's my best story from the night. In the late 90's I was in the Navy, working on a ship. The USS Dixon (AS-37) was a submarine tender, designed to replenish and repair submarines at sea. It turned out that is was dangerous and stupid to replenish and repair submarines at sea, so the ship spent 11 months of the year 'welded' to the pier. Once a year it had to go to sea for at least 30 days, so it could still be considered 'sea duty' for the people working on the ship. Sea duty came with more pay and promotion opportunities. So, we got to live and play in sunny San Diego most of the year, and then go to something lik
Vanessa played her harp. Later she sang, beautifully. Her mom, Cathy, sang a song about her dog. Alyssa and Rena played and sang, too. What a wonderful evening.Vanessa.
