      Spring cleaning in the fall
Don’t ask me why, but Cristina and I got really into cleaning today. We cleaned the room like there was no tomorrow. We mopped, vaccuumed, scrubbed, and who knows what else! This place looks great and we feel great. Our room is sexy! Samara of course came in and was like, what did you two do? [...]

As per every year since 1990 we've just been through our quiet month, August is a perfect month to spring clean the set and equipment as well as having a well deserved holiday. The credit crunch hasn't affected us at the moment and we have at least one team booked every weekend until the end of April 2009 and a couple of bookings for 2010 already. Spring Cleaning To Save Money
Okay, the weather is nice out, spring is upon us and it is time for all of those things we forget to do in our day to day but need to keep on top of.Consider this your reminder, take some time this week or weekend and boost efficiency around your home. Here's some tips from my quarterly/semi-annual cleaning routine.1. Check the 9V batteries in all the fire alarms, smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. This little battery can save you and/or your family. Spend the couple dollars and put fresh batteries in them at least once a year. Ignoring it isn't being frugal, its being stupid. While you're at it, see the little button on it, push it in and test to see if it's still working.2. AC/Furnace filters. Spring Cleaning: Do Not Forget the Lingerie Drawers
As seasons change, a rite of passage is the much anticipated or even much dreaded “spring cleaning”. For some, spring cleaning is refreshing and productive; whereas, for others the idea of tackling the closet or floor to ceiling windows is daunting and they are not sure where to start. When creating your spring cleaning “to do” list, do not forget to clean out your lingerie, sleepwear and undergarment drawers. By taking steps to assess your intimate apparel products, you are not only reducing underwear clutter, but you are also identifying missing “must have” items for spring and summer fashions. When adding these drawers to your spring cleaning list, a word of caution applies. The same rules that pertain when cleaning out your closet do not apply with these innerwear product

Sounds like a lot of work - yep it is, but we gotta get this stuff done - many trials coming up and no time to get house stuff done. One of the big things we have to do is dust under and behind all the heavy things, and clean all the blinds in our house. They are dusty! Did I tell you how much Mum loves her blinds? She got them when she first moved into the house. They aren't Hunter Douglas, or Bali Blinds, but they are really nice faux wood blinds, in a slightly off white. They have held up very, very well over the seven years Mum has lived here. They look great and are still going strong despite the kitties trying to climb them, and even Gracie trying to chew on them. The coat we bundled him in to sludge off to chemo, MRIs and doctor appointments that long, gray winter...why can't I part with THAT for heaven's sakes? It doesn't exactly hold good memories, for the most part. But, it was the last coat he wore, and I liked him in it. Neither of the boys are his size, so that idea is pretty much out, except for maybe golf hats, ties, and the like. I've given a few things to good friends and family, but I still have so much. Spring Cleaning: How to clear out temporary files
Occasionally it is worth checking to see if you have any temporary files collected. These should be deleted whenever the application that created them is finished with them, or whenever Windows closes down, but bad programming and crashes mean that they can sometimes be left behind. In order to delete these files we must first make the folder that contains them visible. To do this you need to open Windows Explorer - by double-clicking on 'My Computer', holding down the Windows key and pressing E, or whichever your preferred method is - pulling down the 'Tools' menu and selecting 'Folder Options'. Select the 'View' page and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders is selected'.Next you will need to open your system drive; which, for most people, will be the 'C: drive.' From there double

And things look so much nicer too.So the next big step in my vernal organisation is the car tidy. I know, that sounds hardcore, but I now think that keeping things tidy in your car is essential, especially if you have a vehicle with a lot of storage. Spring Cleaning---Late!
Today we awoke not knowing that we were going to immerse ourselves in spring cleaning. I know it's already summer, but we missed Spring because of playing with our house guests. And did our home ever need our cleaning and attention! It was the area behind our massive computer desk where the dust was the worst. But as one thing led to another, we ended up moving the desk and changing the direction we sit at the computer. Now we have a wall behind us instead of huge windows, and we look in the Northwest direction, both very auspicious feng-shui elements for us. The moving of the desk is something I've wanted to change for a long time, so I'm really happy. My partner is slow and thorough, and I left it to him to figure out to remember which cord went were--a nightmare for me! He got everything back up and working again except for several cords which don't seem to fit anywhere, but at this point--six hours later--we don't care.

You know how you tend to hang onto things if you think you're going to use them someday? I have a jar of elastics that I began saving in 1994. It's full now, but you never know when you're going to need an elastic, right? Well, that's my attitude. The Raj had other plans. He made a little pile of things that TO HIM were clearly "more than junk" and didn't belong in our newly organized junk drawer. Hmmmmf. At least I got to keep the elastics.

      Spring cleaning thoughts, here.
So, we’ve lived in our house for…coming up on four years now. And during that entire time, I’ve had to listen to Pauly tell me how much he wants a pressure washer, over and over again - for four years now! He’s so danged particular, too. He has something very specific in mind. I don’t even know what it is, but I have no doubt it’s gigantic, noisy, and will require more maintenance than the motorcycle. I so badly wish I could just sway his opinion about “more power!” and get him to buy an electric pressure washer instead of holding out for the perfect gas pressure washer. First of all, I’m just not that clever when it comes to gas powered motors. I can barely start the lawnmower - if it weren’t for that little magic button that pushes the gas where it needs to go, I really don’t think I could do it. I know I can’t start up the weed eater! And in a way, these are good things. Means I don’t have to get out the

      My Life/ Spring Cleaning
I have been on a mission all morning. I am trying to spring clean. My mission today was to tackle my room mainly my dresser. I had so much junk stacked on top of it I did not know where to begin. Everyday I am going to try to tackle something else. We are having a community yard sale the first weekend in May and I want to get rid of a lot of stuff that we don't really need. I was watching the

      Spring Cleaning Roundup
Beware…of Welfare State fallout. Looking towards Europe is akin to looking into OUR future. If the scourge is not stopped! In bed with Islamists Most of the immigrants who came to Europe during the past decades were attracted by the generous welfare benefits that Western Europe lavishly bestows on the “underprivileged.” Today, as more and more young Muslims reach voting age, European parties have begun to cater to Islamist causes. Left-wing politicians in Europe introduce separate swimming hours for women in public pools, impose halal food on cafeterias and demand that schools banish the Holocaust from history lessons. Wow. This could prove to be very interesting. Press cartoons: the West’s new censorships Cartoons have a universal reach and pacifying effects, but they may also lead to just the opposite – violence and bloodshed. How then can press cartoons evolve to pursue their peace-making goals, especially in light of new subversive forms of censorship eme

      Spring Cleaning
Barefoot Blogger, originally uploaded by nicholasjon.Don't ask me why, but I've suddenly become obsessed with cleaning up my blog entries. Recently, I discovered that I can sort my archives by tags (yay!), so I switched the way that the archives are displayed in the sidebar. From now on, the archives will be sorted by tag labels instead of being sorted chronologically. I'll be adding labels to all of my entries for the next few days and cleaning up any grammar, style and spelling errors, so actual blogging (hmmm, haven't done that since I started blogging two years ago) will be scarce for a bit.Now where did I put that broom?technorati tags: blog, clean-up

      3 Weeks Into Spring Cleaning
3 weeks has passed since the spring cleaning began and it has not ended. I am a splendid procrastinator but I’m rather proud; it is the first time I spring-cleaned myself. I started out rather systematically sorted papers into ‘rubbish‘ and ‘want to keeps‘. As can be said, the ‘want to keeps’ were strewn all over the floor. The mess turned myself off to complete the goal of having an uncluttered room… Don’t be like me. Here are some tips: Right away, start organising the ‘want to keeps‘ into piles and store them into storage boxes/folders; mess will not motivate! Throw the rubbish away. Recycle! Unimportant, unwanted documents can be recycled, while the ones containing sensitive info should be torn and trashed. Reduce! Give away useful, unwanted goods to charities, sell them off to second-hand stores or hand them down. Customise! Take stock of the amount of stuff you have and customise the space of the storage solution

Spring Cleaning and Culling your Stash? posted by Marji
It seems to be that time of year when so many PR bloggers are cleaning out their sewing areas and deciding to pass along unwanted stash. Before you cart off the boxes or bags of yardage to Goodwill or the Salvation Army store, call them to find out what they do with yard goods. In this area, fabric goes straight into the shredder to eventually to become pulp for recycling. Some alternative ideas if your local Goodwill doesn't accept yard goods: 1. Try freecycle or Craigslist. You can require whomever is accepting the fabric to take all of it, and to come to a place you designate as convenient to pick it up from you. 2. Local theater groups or school theater departments. Sometimes fabric for their costume inventory is gratefully accepted, sometimes they don't have any need for it either.
