Ahthe smell of spring is in the air. But spring is not the only to celebrate about. As many of you know, the New Year/Ugadi/Cheti Chand was also in our atmosphere. No matter what you call it, you know there is a big feast that will be held. This could be considered the Indian version of Thanksgiving which Americans celebrate. But then if you think about it, nothing can compare to Ugadi. The interesting meal consisting of raw mango, neem buds, tamarind juice, green chili, jaggery and a dash of salt. Now if you have never celebrated Ugadi, this meal is not as random as you think. Each ingredient is supposed to signify lifes mixtures such as sadness, happiness, anger, surprise, fear and disgust. Ugadi, meant Poli for me, for many years. Yes, Amma used to make Poli only on ugadi day, as it used to be an elaborate process and she used to make for our neighbors and friends. I have always helped her in making these. I used to love these so much and it was surprising that I never got around blogging on this favorite Indian Sweet, so special to Andhra. Of course, now I know its common to all states. But all of us want to think of it, as our very own, right. While it was the custom to make Polis specially for Ugadi, in my in-laws place, all and any festival, is marked by making Poli and a unique combination. Some car manufacturers make festivals more colourful than the rest. The Indian car giant Tata Motors is coming up with some interesting offers for this Ugadi. It has cut down the prices of its flagship models Indica and Indigo. The new Indica V2 Xeta will now cost you Rs 39,000 less and the price of Indigo CS has been brought down to Rs 3.60 lakh from the current Rs 4.5 lakh. It would mean a lot of savings for the buyers. So guys! Who are waiting for the new Indigo CS can do so now. Or it will be never. The tradition of offering discounts and special offers during festival season will really encourage people to buy new cars and make the festivals a memorable event in their lives.
