MICE PARADE @ the Echo & Quick 6 Mix! 2007-06-08 13:46:00 Last Night's show was supposed to start at 8:30 @ the Echo. But the case wasn't the time nor venue. Due to serious technical/crapped systems & stuff not working, the show moved downstairs to Echoplex, begun around 10:30! The Echoplex is such a sweet venue and you can tell by the seating, larger stage, & the clean bathrooms! (unheard of). Here are some pic of the show.Kira Kira, Caroline, and Tom Brosseau opened with shorter sets w/ regards to time but Tom really rocked. Kira Kira played (played with) a lot of...things. Sounds like Mum + Sigur Ros. Mice Parade is an anagram of Adam Pierce, the band's lead. The set included the usual ensemble; Doug Scharin of HiM, vibraphonist Dylan Cristy of Dylan Group (who last night was also lead clapper), Caroline "filling" Kristín's vocals (who did her a short 4-5 song set as an opener), & I especially took note of Dan Lippel's awesome strumming. Emi Meyer, Nike+, and Weekend Rotation! 2007-03-30 11:44:00 Last Wednesday we saw singer/ songwriter Emi Meyer
perform at the Montmarte Lounge in Hollywood. I have never been before and for a club it was huge with tons of swankin' expensive modern furniture, lighting and 3 bars! The show was a multiple act with art show, but I think the event didn't match the venue. Emi has a 4 song Ep trio style with drums, bass and a 'live at the Hotel Cafe' CD with 14 solo tracks. Emi recently won 1st place in the Seattle-Kobe Jazz Vocalist competition and will be performing in a special concert in Kobe, Japan! In the News: Some goods and some Bads 2007-02-26 02:26:00 Mia and Greg Looking around. How creepy and cool is that? I think I could watch this all day. Seriously, I know what happens, but I can't stop watching it. BADs First: The Verizon wireless commercial where the guy says "dude you want to hear Fall Out Boy? It reall pumps me up" or something like that, and they purposely make him look like a big jock idiot. Why would anyone want to identify with him? Who watches that and sees themself? well perhaps many people I have ran into but the commercial sucks, and so does Fall Out Boy. James Cameron has made a documentry "Lost Tomb of Jesus" in which he tells some crazy story about how Jesus was buried and not resurrected, then he goes onto reveal that possibly Jesus and Mary had a child named Judah. I always thought James Cameron Sucked. But alas, whether he really believes all that or not isn't relevant. 2nd Annual Talent 1 Media Film Fest in Little Tokyo 2007-07-13 16:23:00 Talent1Media is the non-profit (503)c organization behind the 2nd Annual
Tom Film Fest. Last year's TOMfest was focusing on AIDS in Africa, and they worked with several organizations including World Vision. This year the issue we tackled: Human Trafficking. We invited several organizations including ICare Community, World Vision, Oasis USA, LA Loves, LA Unity Coalition with it's members and JustOne. They were all a great resource for attendees to get involved in practical ways here in the U.S. and over seas. The festival was held at the George & Sakaye Aratani Theatre in the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center in Little Tokyo
