Living above your means ? 2006-10-17 13:27:54 Have you ever sat down and done a true budget for yourself or your family. Man is it a humbling experience ! Sitting down and seeing exactly where we waste our money is plain out frustrating. My wife and I last month spent 1100 dollars more than we wanted and could not put a finger on it except for small food expenses etc. This month we are trying harder than ever to stick to our budget and watch we spend on.
We have started the envelope system which I recommend.
I would like to state this first - Setting up a budget is sooooooooooo much easier than sticking to it. The hardest part is sticking to it and making it work for you all.
Okay back to the envelope system. This is not a new system by any means. We actually did a bible study that pointed us to try this. Great stuff by the way. Its called Money Matters - Dick Toner is the speaker. Although he is fairly old school, it gets a great point across about how to biblically save for God and yourselves.

Dear Lord !!! 2006-10-14 15:57:28 Wow this week has been absolutley crazy. Between being in wisconsin in the snow and dealing with huge winds, lack of clothing ( I didn’t pack well), and oh yeah the delayed,canceled and sucky flights…man what a week.
I am in Wisconsin for training and its been crazy. The training is very long and very winded. Full of a ton of info and I get to go back to class Tuesday of this coming week yet again.
Thursday night my flight was canceled due to high winds in Chicago, and then yesterday I spent 13 hours in the airports trying to get home. Least to say I was very unhappy and exhausted. Very tired to say the least.
I plan on calling the airport today to make sure on my return flight I am NOT going through Chicago on the way back. Truly the name “The Windy City” is no lie.
Hope you all are doing well. Just wanted to fill you in before anyone thought I was dead !!!

Fear of Flying.. 2006-10-09 15:14:22 Well this morning I leave my girls for a four day business/training session in Wisconsin. I am not looking forward to this at ALL. I hate to fly. Something about a plane made of sheet metal that a kids pellet gun could penetrate leaves me a little weary.
Least to say I am typing this with less than an hour left to go before I need to leave to start the big trip to the airport.
Please say your prayers for my family as I am away and myself for added calmness in the air.
By the way what do you all think about having guest posters on this site? I have come to a creative lull in my minds eye and was wanting to see what others had to say in a blunt type of way about God and their walks with Him.
If anyone is wanting to post please let me know and I am more than willing to open up a user account for you all.

A certain type of person? 2006-10-03 13:26:34 So this morning on my way to work as I followed the narrow and crooked downtown streets I came to the same light as I always do. Yet I have never noticed the McDonald’s sitting to my left. Now in my family and hopefully all others, this is a no no. McDonald’s in our eyes is the face of horrid food and bad eating habits.
When I looked over I noticed a certain
type of person
in the line that was wrapped outside of the building. 1st I would like to say that its before 7 in the morning, and secondly that is disgusting that someone would choose that food for breakfast.
So I sat there almost missing the light thinking to myself..Does it take a certain person to go to McDonald’s? By the persons in line it sure looked like it. I would say without a doubt in my mind that all of the people in that line were at least 20 pounds over weight. By no means am I judging them, was just an observation. Bible Studies 2006-10-02 16:58:24 So the question in my mind is what kind of bible study do I look for?
I have been involved in a friends bible study that has been couple oriented and we are now taking a time out due to lots of kids being had and other life issues. I think that this was a bad decision.
Now my wife and I are looking elsewhere and don’t want to wait. What do you all think?
Do we do a women and men bible study or?
I really am looking for something solid but at the same time I am very very particular about who is part of the bible study. I know that is not the right attitude but I need something specific in a study and want it done a certain way. I don’t want a sloppy study that ends late and starts late. I need someone, a leader, who can sit us all down and get my attention for a good hour and then call it a night.
Do these exist or am I crazy?

Love 2006-09-28 15:05:41 How do we show love? How do we speak it? Do we mimic God’s love for us in all we do?
I think in my everyday life I lose sight of this love and really need to get back on track and do it all day everyday.
My wife needs it, my baby girl needs it, I myself need it. We need to share this love like no other to everyone we know. Why would we go around living our lives with no love. Love is a HUGE part of who we are and what we are made up of.
The good book says in John For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Yes I know this is what we see every Sunday at the football games and yes its a very well known verse but lets not forget that He loved us so much that He sent Christ to the cross for us.
What kind of love is this that we do not want to be part of it.
I know for sure that something like this really could change a persons outlook on life. Share your love today to someone you think needs it.
Does everyone go to Heaven ??? 2006-10-24 18:54:41 This past weekend the new lady friend of my father brought up an argument point of , Does everyone
go to heaven? Well what do you all think about that.
The discussion that followed basically centered around God being a lot larger than we gave Him credit for. What a great conversation to have with people who are loving the Lord. I would not bring this up to new believers but to oldies but goodies it was a great conversation.
Now, where do I stand on this? Well this is something I may need to stew on for a few days,weeks,months etc. The ramifications in my eyes are many.
Such as , if we all go to Heaven
due to Christ giving His life on the cross for all of our sins… then why I am trying so hard to be like Christ in our daily lives? Why not do as I choose and get a free ride at the end? This was the basic argument of mine and my fathers. I am never against learning new opinions or changing my own but it is hard to believe ( in a fair way ) that God would allow ALL people into Heave
Is God alone enough for you? 2006-10-25 13:34:58 I have been thinking lately about this question..
Is God alone
enough for me?
Is He really the only thing I need? Can he make me happy without my daughter or wife? Without my PCs and Internet? Without all of the good food I love?
What does this question really mean when it comes down to it? Are we happy with allowing God to rule over us as He calls us to allow? I know I struggle with this daily. Can I seriously be happy with God only?
Or am I looking at this question in a different way? Should I be saying YES of coarse I am happy with only one God. The True God of our world.
Either way I am here contemplating why I sit at a desk all day when there are thousands of missionaries out there living for God. Have a great day and reassure yourself that God is in control and will never give you more than you can handle.

Homeless Folks .. how do we love them? 2006-10-26 13:31:44 I have been struggling with this topic for years. How do we love a homeless person without enabling them?
Around my neighborhood, well actually down the street a ways, the blocks become harsher and we start seeing homeless people wandering around.
As of late I have seen a young woman around my age with a sign asking for money. I have tried many times to stop and give her some cash but for one reason or another I haven’t. I am not meaning I don’t have the cash just in the wrong lane or the light was green etc.
Why is it harder on my heart to see a young woman homeless than men? For me I don’t care about men, they are supposed to be strong. For me to walk past the building next to ours at work and see guys sleeping in the construction ruble. I don’t flinch. I sometimes wonder why the made the choices they did but it doesn’t bother me as much as this young woman.

Taking a break 2006-10-31 13:08:18 Due to work becoming more and more stressful and a lack of time at work/home to write up ideas, thoughts I have decided to step aside for a few to allow myself some breathing room.
I will be in and out but I don’t know if this space will continue.
