BMW Art Cars 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Ok maybe this is old news to most, but for those in SG, here's some photos from Autoblog.com showcasing the 4 cars (Andy Warhol, Ken Done, Frank Stella and Roy Lichtenstein) exhibited in SG until this Sunday 11 Jan 2007 before heading to the Philippines. You can also view 4 other cars that will not be exhibited at SG (touring East Asia - Japan, China, Taiwan) on the same page.www.bmwworld.com has photos of 7 other cars that are not in the abovementioned page at AutoBlog.com. Images taken from AsiaOne Motoring aticle here.Clockwise from top left: Andy Warhol, Ken Done, Roy Lichtenstein and Frank Stella.
Virtual Lego Designers 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I recently rediscovered the joy of playing with Lego bricks after playing Lego Star Wars : The Video Game non-stop for the past few weeks. Since I completed the game, I'm been trying to find a fix for my Lego addiction on the Net and found these three virtual brick apps.BlockCAD 3.18 by Anders Isaksson. This was my first introduction to the world of virtual bricks a few years ago. Free to download (Windows) (~1 MB). The selection of bricks is not strictly Lego-based. Lego Digital Designer 1.6.680 - The official designer from the makers of Lego themselves. Free to download (Windows, Mac)(~16 MB). An assortment of bricks is included in the download but additional bricks have to be purchased online. Slow startup time but very easy to use with a decent set of features . LDraw.org Tools - A set of Lego modelling tools contributed by the online community. Interface is similiar to 3D modellling apps. Steeper learning curve than Lego Digital Designer but is more powerful and also has more bri Read more:Designers
MechCommander 2 Encyclopedia 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Was trawling through the Microsoft Download Center under the Games & Xbox section when I chanced upon this old promotional download released in July 2001 - MechCommander 2 Encyclopedia
. Download here. (57.6 MB)Pretty cool stuff if you're a Mecha or a fan of the BattleTech universe like me. Essentially a model viewer for the 29 Mechs as well as vehicles and weapons in the game. Contains a brief introduction for each Mech plus its in-game statistics. Some of the Mechs that I recognize easily from the tiny 3D models in the encyclopedia include the Atlas, Catapult, Mad Cat, Raven and Thor, probably because of their distinctive silhouettes. Some other oldies but goodies in the Microsoft Download Center:Xbox 360 HD Videos - High definition videos for some Xbox 360 games like Gears of War, Call of Duty 2, Quake 4 etc. Quality is excellent but most of them are just gameplay footage, no fancy CG cinematics there. Prima Guides for XBox - Excerpts from Prima guides for Xbox 360 games like F.E.A.R,
Searching for Japanese Game Wallpapers 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Official Japanese
game wallpapers released by the developers or publishers can be notoriously hard to find on the net.The typical official Japanese game website usually doesn't provide wallpapers for its fans or links them in some strange place where only Japanese readers can find. Some have a minimal English site without links to the additional media or content found in the Japanese site. Here's some stuff I use when searching for Japanese game wallpapers.Look for the words "å£ç´™" which literally means "wall paper" in Japanese and Chinese.Do a Google Image Search and enter the domain name of the website (omit the "http://" and the pagename). You'll be surprised what you can find with Image Search at times. Plus it's a lot quicker than randomly clicking on every button in sight.Look for "サイトマップ" which means sitemap. Hopefully the sitemap is an updated one ;)To find the official site, you can search for it Wikipedia (see the external links section at the bottom) or just Read more:Wallpapers
Smacker Video Player 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Remember those cutscenes in the .smk (Smacker Video) format popular in older games several years back (circa 1997 - think MechWarrior 2, Warcraft II, Diablo) RAD Game Tools which developed the Smacker Video codec and its successor, Bink Video, has made the RAD Video Tools ready for download (1.2 MB) at www.radgametools.com so that you can now play Smacker Videos (.smk) as Bink Video (.bik) files from your older games.
800mm Dora Railgun 1970-01-01 00:59:59 The 800mm Dora railgun (no, not the Quake 3 railgun) developed by the Germans in World War 2 was truly a feat of military weapon design and engineering. The image below (from Palpatine's site) clearly shows the enormous scale of this massive weapon. The soldiers look like ants next to this monster. For specifications and actual photos, see Palpatine's site .You really need to view the photos to appreciate the size of the Dora - Even the shell fired by this gun is at least 1.5 - 2 times taller than the average human.
MrBean (Not that Mr Bean) Lookalike 1970-01-01 00:59:59 If you live in SG, you should have seen this mascot (left picture) of Mr Bean (the soya bean beverage retailer) The one on the right looks similiar right? From the body shape, smiling face and little stumpy legs, they look like identical twins (Except one was designed in SG and the other in UK by Jonathan Burch for his work - see his original post here.)By the way the one by Jonathan is a 3D render (Looks like real plastic to me. Pretty cool, huh?)
Changed the max posts displayed per category 2007-03-07 05:12:00 Finally figured out how to change the maximum posts
shown when clicking on a particular category in the View Posts by Categories widget. My apologies to anyone who has attempted to view posts by category and given up due to the large number of images trying to load at the same time. For any Blogger user who wants to change it, you have to go to the Template Tab > Edit Html Page. Ensure that Expand Widget Templates is checked and search for 'data:label.url'.Change 'data:label.url' to 'data:label.url + "?max-results=10"'. Substitute 10 for the number of posts to be shown. Ensure the quotation marks are in the correct positions! (I messed up for quite a while due to my understanding of quotation marks in other programming languages.) Finally, save the template and you're done!Always remember to BACKUP your template first though. This more detailed post at hackosphere.blogspot.com served as my reference for this template edit. Thanks Ramani!
