"Don't Give Your Heart To A Dog" by Gerry Gilman is our Track Of The Week 2007-03-03 18:09:48 Our Track
Of The Week is "Don't Give Your Heart
To A Dog" by Gerry
Gilman. Gerry Gilman is a singer songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia, who claims to have written over 1,000 songs in his career. Lest you think by the title that this is a redneck song, however, you are wrong. This is a brilliant piece of songwriting. I cried the first time I heard it. I cried the second time I heard it. I would probably cry if I heard it now. "That happens all the time," Gerry told me when I mentioned to him this tendency to weepiness. " Sometimes half the audience is in tears before I'm through. In fact, the first time I ever sang it in public I cried myself." If that isn't a dare to listen to any song, I don't know what is. So here's the bet: listen from start to finish, and if you're not crying by the end, well, listen to it again. You'll get there. Especially if you've ever had a dog.CLICK HERE TO PLAY
"Revisited" by Lee Tyler Post 2007-03-03 18:01:22 Our Track Of The Week is "Revisited
" by Lee Tyler
Post. Lee is a singer songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee, by way of San Diego. When asked recently what inspires him to write, Lee had this to say: "I honestly have to say moods. I've never sat down to write a song, usually I fall into a mood and grab my guitar and a song falls out. Almost always the song is pretty much done in a few hours. Very rarely do I have to go back and fix it. I write probably 5 songs a week, and they pretty much have their own life, meaning they dictate to me how they will come out. I feel more or less like a translator than a songwriter. Many times it takes months to figure out what the song was about in the first place. It's weird!" What's not at all weird is the amazing quality of Lee's singing and writing, which you will hear and feel immediately when you hear this amazing "Track Of The Week."CLICK HERE TO PLAY
