Cloudy Desert 1970-01-01 00:59:59 As you may have noticed, I made a wee change to my photoblog. I took the advice of my friend Otilius and made the post area larger so that I may have larger photos. I also decided to add frames to my photos from now on, I think they look better framed when on a light back ground. I had a little blank area up there in the corner.. I wasn't sure what to do with it. At first I was gonna use it for thumbnails of my favorite photo of the moment, but putting my renters there seemed like a cool idea (and a lot less work!). Boothill, Tombstone, Arizona 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Boothill CemetaryTombstone
's famous "Boothill Graveyard" was originally plotted in 1878 and was first named "The Tombstone Cemetery". It was used as the city's main cemetery until the current cemetery, "Tombstone Cemetery" at the end of Allen Street was opened up in 1884. Afterwards, additional burials would be added from time to time. There was a section for all the Chinese and another area for the Jewish. It is believed some 300 persons in all were buried here. It was common for bodies to be found in various parts in and ouside of town, with no one ever being able to identify them, and they were interred with no markings, or as "unknown".After the new cemetery was opened up, Boothill Graveyard went neglected. The original grave markers were all made of wood, with painted inscriptions, and withered away under the elements. Some markers were stolen by souvenir hunters. In 1923, the city contacted several of its residents to help locate and identify graves. A boy scout troop had also s Read more:Arizona
Bisbee Arizona 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Bisbee, AZ. 3/13/06Bisbee, 90 miles southeast of Tucson, is the picturesque county seat of historic Cochise County. The community was founded in 1880 and named after Judge DeWitt Bisbee, a financial backer of the Copper Queen Mine. This Old West mining camp proved to be one of the richest mineral sites in the world, producing nearly three million ounces of gold and more than eight billion pounds of copper, not to mention the silver, lead and zinc that came from these rich Mule Mountains. By the early 1900s, the Bisbee community was the largest city between St. Louis and San Francisco. It had a population of 20,000 people and had become the most cultured city in the Southwest. Despite its culture, however, the rough edges of the mining camps could be found in notorious Brewery Gulch, with its saloons and shady ladies. In 1908 a fire ravaged most of Bisbee's commercial district along Main Street, leaving nothing but a pile of ashes.Reconstruction began immediately and by 1910 most of the Read more:Arizona

The Birdcage Theater, Tombstone Arizona 1970-01-01 00:59:59 The Birdcage TheaterThe world famous Bird Cage Theatre, also referred to as The Bird Cage Opera House Saloon. This was a fancy way in the 1880's of describing a combination saloon, gambling hall and a house of ill repute. Well, that was the Bird Cage Theatre and it was known across America by its unreputable reputation. In 1882, the New York Times referred to the Bird Cage as, "the Roughest, Bawdiest, and most Wicked night spot between Basin Street and the Barbary Coast. For nine years it never closed its doors, operating 24 hours a day. During this period, 16 gun and knife fights took some 26 lives. There are still 140 bullet holes through-out the building, marking the ceilings, walls, and floors. Many famous happenings occurred in the barroom, which is indicated by the many bullet holes, but one of the most outstanding occurrences was the brutal killing of the lovely lady of the evening, Margarita. She was sitting on the lap of gambler Billy Milgreen when suddenly Billy's regu Read more:Arizona

Gazania 1970-01-01 00:59:59 I have decided to eliminate the BE renter's thing. I decided I would rather find people and photoblogs to spotlight on my own. So, when you're done here, go have a look see at her amazing pictures!
"Tornado" Cloud 1970-01-01 00:59:59 This isn't a tornado... It just looked like one. I thought it was pretty neat looking. The photo turned out a little fuzzy, but I like it. It makes it look quite old, at least I think so. Read more:Cloud
